Alone again naturally by Gilbert o'Sullivan.

Now looking back over the years,
And what ever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old,
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldn't understand, why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart
So badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

Excuse me i think i've got something in my eye.

Having sussed now what makes people here cry I'd better lob in Richard Harris' Macarthur Park and Terry Jacks' Seasons in the Sun for your lacrimal delectation.
Played at a girlfriend's funeral over 20 years ago. Still can't even think of the song let alone hear it.

The boy Gedge has written some of the best love songs of the 'Rock 'n' Roll' era. You may dispute this, but I'm right and you're wrong.
