:hello:How did it go?

I was heading home late last night from a ceilidh, St Patrick's week and all that, when the moon broke cover from the clouds. I imagined you scudding across the open countryside past Stock, but instead have discovered you were eating mutant Magnums at J31.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Enough of chanelling President Batshit Crazy ((c) User). That really is a very decent crowd for March, and I'm delighted to see that the new breakfast point is (a) on the beach and (b) provides refreshment. Even if I'd like to see something darker in those glasses.

Thanks everyone for top night. Having bailed early at West Handon in order to ensure I got enough sleep before friend''s 50th this afternoon I got home at 7.30. Went to bed and promptly woke up wide awake at 9.30. Should of come to Southend! Oh well.

Looks like I'm free for Whitstable and no need to rush back. See you all then! It was so good to catch up with all of you. Very pleased to see Adrian hasn't changed, apart from the beard that is.

Great ride with very classy faceplant onto the tarmac about half a mile from the cafe from me to mark the occasion. Thank you to @mmmmartin & the other cyclist who i didnt catch the name of for sticking by to make sure i was well enough to make the final leg of the journey to the cafe.

I suspect a sprained right wrist, grazed right elbow and have now dressed deeply grazed knee that was still bleeding when i stepped out of the shower.

Time for rest and recuperation!

Others will be along in a minute no doubt. In a nutshell, it started well and got better as it went along.
The new start place is much better and seemed more friendly albeit there is more ambient noise so we might move the actual start place 50 metres to a quieter area. Really friendly bunch on this ride, great atmosphere all the way I thought. Weather was far better than we deserved and many were removing layers in the first half of the ride.
The mile end road tedium was allayed by a bus/@User altercation but the driver escaped alive which is a result.
We may hear more of this.
The halfway stop allowed about six riders to get some sleep in quiet corners, another result.
Not a single visitation nor any form of mechanical in the entire ride, excepting a Brompton with strange gear (non) changing habits. We cracked along at a fine pace.
Indeed some cracked along so quickly they missed a waymarker who was in position and a @Flying Dodo had to be called in to accelerate after them and hunt them down: proving that once a fast cyclist, always a fast cyclist.
A minor waymarking slip was sorted by forward planning by the ride leader and chief steward involving a GPX track and a phone call.
We saw a massive orange orb riding through the mist: it was brill.
We arrived for breakfast bang on time and well before the morning traffic had time to start. Breakfast involved good bacon and nice sausages.
We sat outside and looked at the sea and pondered how lucky we were.
It was a great night and really good to see so many fresh faces.
Finally, someone won the shoes competition. But that's another story.

Top job @AKA Bob - thank you, and thank you to all your little helpers. One of the smoothest FNRttCs. You even laid on decent weather - such a contrast to the 2016 edition. The unexpected red sunrise was a bonus! And how much better is Beaches than The Rose? I do hope the first-timers enjoyed the experience and come back for another edition. The magic of these rides deserves a bigger audience.

The SMRbtH made great progress, pushed along by a nice tail wind so we arrived at the Dartford Crossing in almost record time. And we didn't have to wait long for the nice man and his van to take us across and back to Kentishland and safety.

See you all next time.
