Hello all.
I’ve been getting some chafing numbness and a sore tailbone from the stock saddle that came with my Merida Bike. I think I probably bruised the tailbone when I was experimenting and had the saddle nose up!
So Evans have the Toupe sport for £30 which looks just what I need with the cut out in the middle and at the back. My sit bones are 105mm, the smallest they do is 143 but the guy in the shop said the manufacturers sizes are not always relevant when it comes to sit bones. I have to say on seeing it I thought it looked perfect for me, certainly with the skinnier nose that I think will also suit me.
Any Thoughts.
Cheers

Simon.

I bought an ergon saddle and it's been on 3 bikes now ,they have a saddle selector

If you can get to Edinburgh bikes they measure you seat  (just sit on a gel cushion thing and your bones leave an imprint)
I had a 143 saddle that was very uncomfortable, got measured and swapped for a 130, so much better.
Alternatively a Brooks saddle, I’ve found very comfy

I'm not convinced by all this width stuff. The most comfy saddle is the one with a good "camber" like a road and a good cupping shape for the sit bones. Charge Spoon and Charge Knife are the perfect shape for me.

No way around it except to try a few, and when you find one that works buy a box of them. I'm quite lucky that cheapo Selle Italia saddles suit my but very nicely, but the odds of my.favourite butt perch suiting you as well are negligible.

I have a Merida and the stock saddle sucked.

I went to a Specialized stockist and sat on the assometer, it said I needed a Specialized Avatar saddle or Fizik Antares.

I went to Corley, and unsurprisingly their Butt-O-meter gave a result that correlated to their most expensive saddles. Now there's a thing.

Well I’ve emailed my LBS to see if they will offer me a swap, but I’m not sure they stock that many, if no joy there, I will get Toupe Sport at Evans, will have their 30 day trial to fall back on. I’m convinced the cut out in middle and back will work for me.
