I'm too sexy for sportives.

Sorry, not really an opinion as that's a fact.

Full of people who don't say hello, say "bidon", and lubricate their chains with WD40.

Any other old chestnuts to squeeze in?

You could use the search function and find loads of similar threads.
Some people like them, others dont.
But remember it's not a race, except they give everyone electronic timing chips.

Did one last Sunday and felt like death afterwards, but I also lost two and a half pounds and the following day felt noticeably springier, fitter, leaner. Can't say I enjoy them as such, and I wouldn't do more than two or three a year, but I never actually regret doing one.

Pretend race for pretend racers. And if that's what you're looking for then you'll enjoy them. I did one with a friend a few years ago, and we've not rushed back to do another, but they're undoubtedly popular. Try one!

Don't see the point unless the roads are closed. Why pay to ride on roads with traffic?

There's a whole forum section if interested in specifics

Nope. Still don't see the point myself

Other than Ride London I don't think I've ever paid to do something in a group. Then I really don't like any sort of group exercise, avoid like the plague at the gym too

I tend to agree but it is no different to other paid group activities that are free solo.

Not for me. Can't see what the money is for. And closed roads seems like a good idea, but when you put 20-30, 000 riders on it, it gets more crowded than an early weekend ride.

Audaxers for me - more independent, less crowded. At worst cost about around £5 more than it would to ride alone, and often cost less (eg Ditchling Devil that for £15 gave a donut to start, bacon and egg butties with a hot drink, a BBQ and cake and coffee. Try doing that in London and Sussex for £15 on your own!
