Can't that be brazed?
Isn't brazing and soldering essentially the same thing?Without confusing the situation you can braze,solder or Tig copper if that's what it is.
The problem with introducing anything but localized heat is deformation. It fits very snugly into a EO4 Vapour pump, the shim centres as well as acting to prevent back backing. Originally it was spot welded.....hence hoping to do the same. I think its a copper alloy but cant be certain neither can be Edwards....they didn't have much of a clue.
