Wasn't fury just being honest about his beliefs? Many may not share them, some may share them but not want to say, some may think it's disgusting to promote them, but he has been honest?

I think society will eventually move on past some of these beliefs and I hope so, but while they still remain, he is free to share them if not act upon them eh?

Chris Froome is well below the radar.
Two time TDF champ should be much higher profile, he just doesnt have the exposure that wiggins and to a lesser extent Cav has.
This year is wide open with half the contenders in with a decent chance. I would like to see some recognition for Mo Farah, but suspect Murray will win, but has won it before.
I like Lewis Hamilton, but dont want him to win it again.

I'd vote for Froome if I could be bothered to vote, mainly because of the way he held himself together in the face of the abuse he got during the Tour. He must have been aware of the physical danger he was in during the mountain stages where you are often isolated from team mates and other riders with the spectators in touching distance of you. Takes a lot of bottle to cope with that.

If I thought Fury deserved it on a sporting level his political or social views would not influence me, just as they wouldn't were he a member of the SWP. It's all about the merits of sporting achievement, not whether you'd like to live next door to them.

I would vote for Lizzie Armistead for being an exceptional cyclist and a girl :okay: unfortunately these 2 things could also go against her as women's cycling still isn't all that well recognised.

Why is the programme titled Sporting Personality of the Year then? If it was simply on sporting merit it would be titled Sportsperson of the Year shurely?
It's not even worth discussing, the whole thing could have been buried years ago:biggrin:
