Must admit that it's been so cold, wet, windy, you name it, recently that my cycling mojo has gone a bit. Normally I'm tough as boots, but struggling a tad just lately. The snow has forced me off the road and into the back garden on the turbo trainer for the past week or so. Hopefully the finer weather will bring new inspiration ..........

wouldn't it be warmer actually cycling on the roads than in the back garden? or is the wind chill less in the garden?
getting this image of you staring in from outside watching the TV through the winter whilst cycling on a turbo trainer in the garden at night.... must get out more

yes - whilst cycling around the world - follow the link in the signature and got to page "day 350 (part 2)" and unless you have a strong stomach, I suggest you don't do this whilst eating. it was mostly 1 bite that needed all the stitches, severed a major artery, severed a major nerve, punctured a major vein and left me with some muscle damage - I can now cycle around 45 miles without too much problem (assuming I continue with the 90 mins physio each night that it needed, I just can't walk very far. Now almost able to get around the weekly shop if we stick to only the isles we need in a medium sized supermarket. So I don't work yet - can't and not entitled to any help and get nothing whatsoever) and we pay for all my physio after being refused in on the NHS... incident happened outside the UK and they have not been interested). I am now at college twice a week on adult course which thankfully cost very little, doing something useful with my time and commute once a week (22 miles) to my physio appointments hence 3 commutes, 2 days and then I do what I want in between which is mostly staying fit because of my asthma and the fact I like cycling (good thing given I tried cycling around the world)

^^^^ This sounds awful. I am so sorry to read of what you have been through. It must have been terrifying. What happened to the dog and did it get put down? I did click on your link but my browser came up with the prompt that there was a problem with the security certificate of your site so I did not continue. I hope you get some relief from the treatment you are having. It sounds ridiculous that the NHS wont't help you! You are after all resident in the UK and a UK citizen. It surely doesn't matter where your injuries occur? You are presumably a UK citizen have paid tax and NI so are entitled to free treatment on the NHS. What a complete nightmare.

The security certificate will just be neil's website - the journal is on crazyguyonabike.com so you should be fine. I don't get it because I have an account there that is logged in all the time, and I was pretty certain it now only shows up in older OS's with older web browsers, but I''m not 100% sure - he made the changes whilst we were on the road, but if you want an independant link to it, just google my username, the first hit is usually our journal on his site and it is journal 2 that it happened it. If you like photography you may enjoy some of the pictures from the tour (I took my Canon EOD 5D mk ii with us!)
the dog was most likely shot - no one will take ownership of a dog after it has injured someone, so can't do much, but we know that the local gendarme (armed rural police) were not happy and whilst officially could take no action, unofficially it was another matter.
As for the NHS (or any other help whatsoever) well that is another matter entirely and so OT for this post, I am best not going there!
