I either lean the bike and put a tiptoe down, or slip forward off the saddle, depending on the length of the stop.

Personally, I prefer to keep my saddle at the right height for when riding. I've not found any need to have to compromise on this. When I stop in traffic / junctions / traffic lights, I sometimes put a foot on the curb or just lean the bike slightly. If this really doesn't work for you, you could try moving forward off the saddle so it is easier to put a foot down.

+1 here as well... though I have a set of lights near me where there is a dropped down curb (no reason for it anymore) just before the stop line and it is so annoying!
I can't reach the floor whilst in the saddle. the only time this has 'backfired' was recently with my leg warmers on, and somehow whilst getting back onto the saddle I managed to hook the inside top band of the leg warmer over the nose of the saddle...

If you can't stand over the crossbar without causing yourself a mischief, then the bike it not the right size for you. Regardless of a short inside leg. FWIW, I have 29 - 30" and always adopt the 'slide off the front of the saddle, if I have to come to a complete stop' method.

I keep my the saddle at the correct height. When I come to a stop I lean the bike slightly to the right and rest on my tip-toes while remaining seated. I've tried the getting off the saddle and almost ended kissing the tarmac :smooch: Also ending up with the saddle nose wedged up my a** is not the most pleasant experience so i'll remain seated. I do ride a bike with a VERY compact frame so this could explain my issues.
