Stopping water getting into winter boots?

having got fed up with freezing feet on my commute and on autumn / winter club runs I decided to invest in some winter cycling shoes. Shimano gortex ones.
They are great and warm. However, as I discovered on Sunday in a downpour, rain can easily trickle in from the ankle area. Leaving them full of freezing water... which can't get out, as they are so waterproof!!!! They are still drying out in the radiator, three days later....
Anyone else have this problem? And more importantly if you do, have you got a solution?
The only thing I can think of is duct tape.......

I've had some success with cutting the cuffs off marigold style gloves (you can get them in black), use the cuff as a seal between leg and boot.

I've heard others have used ankle cuffs from wetsuit suppliers, not tried that one.

Thanks, I'll give the marigold gloves idea a go.
Surely is possible to keep, the water out, despite capillary action, like divers dry suits?

Drysuits have integrated feet, so are not really comparable. Just accept that if it rains, then the important thing is to stay warm - not dry.

Um, the head sticks out of a dry suit right? And the hands?..... why should feet be different?

I suppose this suggestion is just too simple, but is this not what overshoes were made for?

Precisely what I did, and I'm seeing rubber seals around the neck and wrists.....
Anyway, I'll give it a go and get back to you.
Thanks for the input

I'm yet to find an over shoe that keeps water out, or my feet warm, which is why I got the winter boots. The warm bit is sorted, just need to stop the water getting in.....

Over thinking a problem nobody has? My boots fill with water. I suffer with cold feet. So when they get damp they get cold, I wish they didn't. I like solving problems, so will try to find a solution thanks :becool:
