Who on earth names a storm 'Doris'

That's what my 9 yr old granddaughter calls dithering female drivers!!
No idea where she got that from

To ensure gender equality, she calls dithering male drivers 'Boris'...

It's very calm here on the beach. The arrival time of Doris has gone from 11am to 5pm now.

Give it a few hours and she will have blown completely off course and miss the UK totally.

Utter devastation here! Last night someone's recycling bin blew over. Myself and another neighbour put it back upright and even had to pick up some glass!!

The really bad news is I am now heading for my spiritual home in south Devon. I am expecting bad weather. This is bad as I'll have to be out in it all day.

Policeman of my acquaintance used "Doris" for those. I first heard him use that name 30 years ago.

So far it's been rather underwhelming.... cold yes... little bit windy (less than yesterday when I was constantly been sent towards car doors), and damp rather than wet.

I even dug myself out for a jog (the term 'run' does not apply) at about 9.30, and enjoyed the sunshine. It is now drizzling.
