Please can I ask how this helps apply torque to the pedal axle? I ignorantly can't see the point. Why do you want one @Big John ? For what function?

The 'beast', holds on the crank arm between those soft wheels so that you have the ability to hold the crank while you move the pedal spanner.

The 'beast' is expensive at £120, but I've shown above ^^^ how to make one like I did, for not much more than a Pavarotti.

If the spanner slipped while he was straddling the crossbar, then well, don't send him plums. Act of cruelty that.

Ha, I've just had to go to Cornwall and back for work so no time for unsuccessful bike maintenance at the moment.

The right tool makes a huge difference. The X tools one looked robust but it's obviously made with a relatively soft metal. I felt a lot of give when putting pressure on.

Absolutely no give with the park tools spanner, and a nice lever length.

The threads were a bit mucky!

That gloves actually on the wrong way round. I've got two left ones I get them on site and always lose the right hand ones because I take them off for writing notes.

I've treated myself to some fenwicks assebly grease. I'll really be happy with myself in 5 years.

I destroyed a Jobsworth pedal spanner in the same way before investing in the Park one.
