Stuff that happens as you get older

A year or so ago I noticed I was getting real problems climbing steep hills, so much so that I had to dismount as I was getting light-headed and thought I was going to faint. I put it down to just another old age thing and just cut back a bit on the hills.

I was at the hospital this week for a check up on the pacemaker I had fitted two years ago and I mentioned this. The tech looked at the readings and said that it was probably because my pacemaker was stopping my heart beating faster than 110 (they set it at that because of my age, 76) and not enough blood was being pumped around by the slower heart rate . She has now set it to 130 as she thinks I should notice an improvement, and said to go back if I need any further change.

Until I was 73 I felt I was as good as I had been for years, but then a few things hit at around the same time.

The trouble with old age is that old age is the stuff that happens to you.
