Bushy Park when they will steam past the fountain would be a good spot...

I went through Bushy Park this evening, there are signs saying that cycling along the route (In the park at least) will be prohibited from 20:00 on the Saturday until 21:00 on the Sunday so we will have to get off and walk from Teddington gate or Hampton Court gate (opposite The Kings Arms)

thanks guys

Exceptional ride, nice weather and a super quick pace.

The missus wasn't too pissed cos I looked totally shattered when i walked through the door. i had to really push it home and my average hardly dropped until i popped on the last hill before my house. Great ride as always led by TC1 with Fly also.

Dave. Next breakfast is on me !
77 miles with an average of 16.2. Im frazzled:tongue:

I'm thinking about joining the Berks and Bucks ride next Sunday from Windsor - anyone else coming? I will be getting a train out before anyone suggests riding through the delights that are Hounslow and Staines! It's a 30 mile route but I'd like to extend it towards the 50 mark if possible.

There were several Sunday London Rides yesterday... This was the one I did!

What a great day! When I say day, I perhaps mean night. The alarm sounded at 0400hrs! Breakfast at 04.30 and out of the door at 05.20! I saw the sun rise through the trees in Hyde Park at 05.30, like a huge expanding orange ball of fire (which I guess it is!). It seemed to glare at me in a sort of "what time do you think this is?" kind of way. I did a circuit and a half of Hyde Park to try and adapt to being on my bike at this hour. There were only three other people in the whole of Hyde Park, two of whom were asleep on a bench. I think the other one was on his way home from a party, still operating on his Saturday night out schedule.

I met Andrij in Regents Park and we did a loop as a warm up(?) then a bit of hill climbing. Up[sup]1[/sup] Fitzjohn's Avenue to the Pond on Hampstead Heath. Down to Chalk Farm. Up[sup]2 [/sup]Haverstock Hill which becomes Roslyn Hill all the back way to the Pond. Along Spaniards Road. Down Highgate Hill. Up[sup]3[/sup] Archway Road to Highgate High Street. Down Highgate West Hill, Up[sup]4 [/sup] Dartmouth Park Hill to Highgate High Street. Down Highgate Hill. Up[sup]5[/sup] Swains Lane. Down Highgate West Hill. A stop for Breakfast in Forks and Corks which has to be one of those secret (hmm not so secret now) foodie finds in London. Continental (as in Delicatessen, not tyres) Cuisine combined with fine English fayre. It is good that neither bike had a pannier as a bank account would have been emptied whilst luggage space would have been filled to the brim with goodies. Fresh smoothies, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, breads - all served with a cheer and a smile. A strawberry n banana smoothie and an egg n bacon gallette, supported by several cappuccinos, were enjoyed whilst watching lean and mean cycling machines heading for the Swaines Summit. There was a slightly unnecessary moment of smugness that we had already accomplished this. However, the smugness didn't last long as after a while and for a reason yet to be provided it was our turn to do it again. Another trip up[sup]6[/sup] That Lane!

Down Highgate Hill and Holloway Road - a good view of the Emirates Stadium, then down to Central London. It was 10.30am or so. The day was looking really sunny and we decided to spend more time on two wheels. We made our way through to Hyde Park, on to the Brompton Road to follow the River at Hammersmith aiming for Kew. All was coming together as we sat outside a pub on Kew Green at 11.40 only to discover the pub didn't open until 12! We cycled East towards The Ship in Barnes. A pint and a cuppa in the sunshine. A gentle amble along the river to Westminster Bridge where we said our goodbyes and headed off in different directions.

70 miles for the day. Some of which were quite steep. That was fun.

Ups 1-6 All the while I couldn't stop a question from repeating itself in my head - " Hills? Plural? Are you nuts?"
