Why is there not the same outcry to save other outlets that sell a harmful product, such as tobacconists or bookies shops?
You can't have a seat and socialize in a tobacconist (they don't exist anymore!) or in a bookie.
I've never been in a bookie (is it not done online nowadays?) but I guess one can't pop in for a cuppa with a pal, or for a Sunday dinner.
Most people don't care about saving tobacconists or bookies from permanent closure, because they can get tobacco from other outlets, gambling can be done online.
If you'd ask folks over 70 though, I bet they are sorry that there's no bookie on their high street.
I very much take and agree with your point but also feel it's an unsuitable venue.

In that case, the landlord got some money; if he didn't charge you for a private space, he should have lol.
Did any of them ask, or think about asking?
