I must be misreading it but 40,000 miles over 15 years is less than 3,000 commuting miles, plenty on here do way more than that

Exactly my thoughts!

If I had cycled to work everyday in my 9years of service in my current job.... it would be .... 15x2=30, 30x5=150, 150x4=600, 600x12=7200, 7200x9=64,800 .... minues 9 years worth of holidays would still be more!

Not that much.
BUT.. his daily job is a very physical activity that add's to his mileage.

My commutes not that long, 13 mile round trip, but I have been commuting for over 30 years so he's needs to keep going a bit longer.

Its a 15 mile commute.Whilst not average, its hardly a long commute...so why all the press attention?
