I'm using sportypal on mine HTC TytnII. I found it on http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.sportypal. I was very impressed after my frst ride with it. I haven't tried MyTracks yet, but i saw them presentation video on their official webpage, it looks very similar to sportypal, www.sportypal.com is well organized and functional web service that provides lot of features for the community(sharing your rides), for analyzing e.t.c.
The battery life is not that bad. I'm most satisfied from the accuracy of this application. It really shows the right track. When you finish you can upload the GPX file to their webservice and plots your ride on google maps.

Sportypal is good, but I am sticking with My Tracks at the moment (HTC magic).

There was a problem with very large tracks (i.e. my 100 mile ride) but that has been solved now.

What I have come across which is brilliant, once you have your GPX file off the phone, is ActiveGPX software. It is a route player, that allows you to do some analysis as well. You can overlay your track on google and actually play it, i.e. watch you progress all along the map! If you pay a small fee(£9 I think), you can also play multiple tracks, so if you do the same route twice, you can play the two routes at the same time and watch real time (or accelerated) where you have gone faster/slower on each ride. Now that is cool. You could even compare tracks with other people.

I am tempted to pay for this.

I ave attached a screenshot of me going very slowly up Dukes pass on my 100 mile ride! (I should point out that the gradient was definitely not 0 at this point!)

I'm using sporty pal this is my morning workout:

http://www.sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/20821

and if you a member you can play and analyze your workouts without export anything. Sportypal web will keep info about everyday activities and you can track your progress. Now they implemented goals (beta) where you can set your periodical goals (no workouts, no of miles, etc). On you account you can see whether yoa are behind your goals or not.

I'm using HTC G1 (dream)

cheers

Hi people,
I was away for some time, on holiday and some business trips, long time without hitting the road for some ride.
I just read that for android they have voted sportypal as a best fitness application on the market for keeping record of the workouts, in our case cycling. And here is one nice ride from last month while i was in the mountain finding my peace :smile: around the lake.

Fatty battery

Anyone using one of the bigger 'Fatty batteries'? Or know of a UK source to get one from? I find having the gps on for MyTracks really hammers the battery and would prefer to know it will last a weekend without having to charge it if I use the gps a fair bit.

Googled up this one
Good price too!

Cheers Fnaar. At that price I've ordered one, only ones I could find were £40+.
My browsing is v. slow at moment being at work on the ship (256k line, shared with rest of crew)- the G1 is faster but screen is a bit limiting.

I bought a spare ordinary battery and a charger for it: I keep the spare in my wallet

The phone is chunky enough already without wanting to put a bulge in the back of it

Downloaded sportypal to compare with MyTracks.... Sportypal is undoubtedly 'slicker' in my view, but I came across a big difference in comparing altitude for a walk (3.5 miles) doone in both. In MyTracks the total gain given is 742ft. In SportyPal (and readings for lowest and highest elevation are pretty much the same) the total gain is given as only 49ft.... unless I'm reading it wrongly, misunderstanding the readings' significance, there's a huge difference! It's quite an 'up and down' route round the local woods, do I'm more inclined to believe the MyTracks one....

Regarding them altitude readings, I do the same route often enough to compare its accuracy. I then realised that although it should be similar indeed the findings would vary alot, leading me to take this with a pinch of salt and only as a rough guide.

Sometimes the altitude is very correct, but sometimes it's not that much, probably the reason for this is the GPS.
I just discovered that i can find all the cyclists near me or if we have been cycling on the same tracks, so i can compare my results/performances with them. Cool tool.
