Tag your bike

Not being a spy or technically minded, is this seriously a tag for your bike, so if it gets nicked you can track it? If so, this is so exciting!!!

No Cathryn, its a transponder that sits inside the frame, and can be detected by a gun used by police. That only works if the police stop someone on the bike, or find it in some ........ ahem, less than salubrious establishment.

It's not so much a detterant (sp) as a 'get your bike back if found'

I've read about a couple of schemes like this and while in principle they are a good idea I suspect that the lack of interest shown by most police forces when it comes to bike theft renders them ineffective. I'd love to know if anyone has actually got their bike back because of one of these.

some insurance companies insist on this if your bike is mega expensive. Other than that, i don't see the point. as said, the police can't be arsed.

used on motorbikes a lot, worth it if your bikes expensive but the rozzers will not track it, just keeps the insurance company sweet.
