Pleasant ride in. Nothing to report other than lots of traffic on some main roads as I crossed them. Colleagues complaining about how long it's taking (50 minutes plus for 5 miles).

A cool, but not cold, commute this morning, at 04:30
A nice ride home at 13:30
Alongside the River Calder, along the old railway line
I joined it at ‘Stanley Ferry’ (Wakefield ), where the Aire & Calder Navigation Canal crosses the Calder on 2 aqueducts (one has a grade 1listing)
I rode upstream, marked with disused railway line, ie; south-east

The steamy Texas gulf coast.
The ride home was longer than I thought I'd manage with feeling ropey on top of a relatively physically heavy day at work.
Variations of the usual routes were had; including swinging by Halfords to pick up a pair of posh new jockey wheels for the Fuji and a trip to Waitrose complete with another instalment of the "gents' cartoon c*ck chronicals"...
Somewhat surprisingly for the location somebody's been drawing phallic effigies on the walls of the gents. At first these were small and quite disturbingly shaped - eliciting disdain both at the wanton desecration and its low-budget execution; however recently it seems the perpetrator has upped their game and forged their own bold style.
Today as my eyes idly tracked past the faint remnants of previous scrawlings that staff evidently couldn't quite scrub from the textured wall cladding I was met by an enormous loch-ness-monster-inspired effort that appeared to be diving in and out of waterline defined by the top of the tiles... which did cause me to laugh out loud
Tbh the perpetrator is so prolific I'm surprised they've not yet been rumbled as there seems to be a new one in there every time I visit..
That frivolity out of the way I wafted home in the cool evening air, resplendent in my newly-found buff keeping me nice and toasty and making me look fabuloust tbqfh.
Stopped at the chippy for a massive piece of fish and met a couple more of my neighbours when I got back; who seem nice enough.
About 31 miles today which should help drag up the averages from the months-low they're no doubt currently plumbing...

warm on way home and cold in the mornings had a usual winter drop in speed or probably my old motor packing up for the winter. Will be 50 this month time to look at funeral plans lol. Have a bit of a chest infection at the moment not that I give a toss as not using car. Nice sun rise half way through, journey at a nice smell of local bakers as get half way through journey for years have been passed there and always planned to drop in there, will probably never happen 
. Turnging left on road that leads to traffic lights two cars powered past to sit at the reds total twonks as filitered past and sat in the bike box they didnt seem to happy made me happy

Sweaty. Rain this morning. Was tempted by the car then realised it would take a good hour each way. Stood in the loo trying to cool down now before getting my shirt on.
Got hit by something on my lid in the town centre last night. Hmm, wonder if that's a giant bird poo.
Duly forgot by the time I got home, upon getting the lid out this morning, ergh. Took 4 Detol wipes to remove it. Blurgh.

Damp under tyre. Only a little drizzle and notably warmer. Dark grey skies are depressing.
Wet today, but not too bad. And this turned up on my FB feed - 10 years to the day since my first ride on the commuter.
Still going strong, been through I think two rear rims, two or three chainrings, several chains and cassettes, a couple of saddles, couple of BBs, several tyres, loads of brake blocks, and at a guess maybe 40,000km.

Yesterday's late afternoon commute (4.30pm) was fab, it was so warm for this time of year. My watch showed a temperature of 19°. It's meant to be the same for this afternoon too.
'Twas a lovely morning here in the Medway. Not as cold as yesterday or Monday mornings.
Upon arriving at Bromley Station for the ride into work, it started to spit with rain, not a huge amount and not enough to get wet, but rain never the less.
Bumped into another fellow regular commuter this morning and had a nice chat on the way in. His nickname is Romanian as that's where he's from. He did tell me his name yonks ago but I am so useless at remembering names.

Pleasant pre work commute from my home to today's workplace - aka my home
Plus Points
1. The rain threatened, but never got more than an odd drop
2. A relatively light rush hour traffic wise
3. Very few school children on my 20 mile ride....probably explains point 2, but no idea where most kids were today. Is it WFH day for schoolkids today?
4. Its a bike ride - that's always a plus
Negative Points
1. I had to end the ride and do work - it is a breach of my 'uman rites to make me work to pay bills and buy new bikes etc
