Back on the commute today. I don't really have to, but my partner is at work so thought I will use today and tomorrow to clear a load of shyte off my desk that I've been putting off doing all year.
Trains and roads completely empty. It looks like the whole of the country are taking the week off.
Only saw one other cycle commuter too
A bit chilly willy this morning. 3° showing on the thermometer but feeling colder. Nice and dry though with blue skies currently.

Temperatures are dropping cool one this morning, looking like we could be hitting the minuses pretty soon. Back to work after a short break, good job because the amount of food I was eating wasn't great 😂

By the sound of things, most folk are sitting for hours in traffic jams at shopping malls (aka Trafford Centre), then moaning about it on social media.

Almost home neogtiating the narrow Victorian street on the way, a driver in an Audi ( ) gave way to me and as I passed I was a bit alarmed that the windscreen was so misted up on the inside that I couldn't even make out the driver - !

Had ideas to cycle in tomorrow - unwise given the current drizzle of snow and -4 forecast in the morning?

New years resolution to try and cycle in more

unlit country lanes where you cant see the ice patches at 4.30 am is not my idea of fun these days .

Not in the office until Wednesday, but looks like it will be an ice bike ride. Gave the bike a once over this morning, well checked the brakes were still working and squeezed the tyres, didn't even need to pump them up.

Happy New Year everyone.

Nice bracing start to wake us all up and remember what we're supposed to be doing (fat chance!). Cold weather provisions, extra layer, buff, the big gloves, and low gear - high cadence to minimise windchill and generate some core temps.

Ride was fine, across dawn (hasn't started getting lighter earlier yet!). Felt very unfit and out of condition - but hopefully it will spring back soon.

Heated gloves over thin Sealskin liners, balaclava with buff over, long sleeved vest, winter jersey and winter shell, Sealskin socks in winter boots, Schwalbe Winter studded tyres etc.

And I still picked the shorter boring way into work chiefly because whenever it's icy, someone seems to stack their car into a hedge on the beautiful back lanes and I don't want to be in the way when they do so.
