I got caught in a pretty heavy downpour, possibly the first bit of heavy rain since getting a bike with discs, definitely more confidence inducing than rims and without the horrible grinding noise you get after picking up some road grit.

Missed the rain thankfully , only a few light passing showers rather than the heavy rain we had most of the day .As were talking about e bikes etc have you noticed the food delivery folk all seem to have bar mitts even in summer ?

I wondered if it was to make a throttle less visible?

Half way to work today and realised I wasn't wearing my helmet. Spent a short spell castastrophising before I remembered I only started wearing it in January after decades without one. Somehow survived but it will be back on on my balding bonce tomorrow.

nice morning riding in not to hot and not to cold, slight tail wind. Empty roads again. Powered into work again hit a few lights on green will pay for that tomorrow as will hti every red light. Was doiing about 20 on lastt stretch of road, got over taken by e-bike looke like a tank and the speed they were doing battery will probably last about 10 miles. Dangerous overtake and no need to do it other than to have a pissing contest over speed. Not all muppets drive cars ...

ebikers must ride in a different climate to the one I ride in. Saw one this morning all wrapped up in all in one thermal suit hood up and looking like tis middle of winter, I would literally last about 10 seconds before sweating. Cut up last night el-bike rider on his mobile tank. Day 4 of 5 and starting to look forward to weekend. Its been quiet for two weeks. Coming down the hill full speed, road continues on into a new entrance but still part of the main road idiot in front grinds to halt with no indication and decides to do a three point turn with out looking whos behind. Words I wont repeat on this forum I gave him a verbal, apprasal of his driving, and the old south london saulte all two fingers.

Saw a leccy bike rider this morning, not pedalling, exceeding 15mph, full on motorbike helmet etc... no enforcement & roads policing decimated. They get away with it all the time.

OTOH the van driver who tailgated me through roadworks has been neglecting his expired MOT since Feb 2025, so he may regret bringing his aggressive driving to the attention of my rear camera.

Come to central Manchester, it's endemic. Quite a few go faster than the cars, riders with their feet millimetres off the ground, fiddling with their phone, wheels less true than a Pringle with batteries gaffer taped onto their frames.

Imagine we'll have to see some high profile incidents before we see change.

I actually got probably about nearly a mile away from my house once before I realised Id left my pannier bag on the door step and had to turn back, it was only because I was thinking wow it feels like Im carrying nothing at all today, looked back...aaaagh!!!!

it had been going so nicely this week, as far as it goes at least, till today when I had a BMW driver swear at me, they were driving towards me on my side of the road, as I had dared not to concede to their might and ride in the gutter for them, and had stuck to the middle of my lane.

then I had a truck who wasnt quite a close pass as such but was a very fast (almost certainly speed limit breaking) overtake that deserved more room than they gave, and to rub it in took my reaction to their manouvre, as a thankyou to turn off their left indicator, at least the vehicles behind me understood me and gave me a complete lanes worth of space when they overtook.

Phew! It's a muggy one this morning. Temperatures are expected to hit 30°s for this afternoons commute. Then the weather breaks with predicted thunderstorms for most of tomorrow.

In regards to the bike, I've given up riding the folder for the time being as trains for both directions on my commute are rarely busy so no having to deal with grumpy fellow passengers and not enough space.

A muggy mist on the Med this morning.

I had to deal with that on Tuesday, thanks to 'shortage of train drivers' chaos. I had a right Karen when my tyre touched her shoe when I moved my bike out of the bike space to let folk sit down, as I was getting off at the next station, the rest of the passengers were cool though.
