Left work feeling crap after eating lots of stuff I shouldn't have.

Pushed towards town on the proviso that I'd play it by ear. Ended up taking the usual-ish loop north, getting into a verbal altercation with a driver at a junction; during which I probably didn't shower myself with glory.

Kept pushing the distance out further and pace up as I know the only fix for feeling like shite is more effort. Stopped at the shops to get the mayonnaise I went for yesterday and forgot, then home through the city centre; my mood thankfully starting to ease.

Taking the tow path for the last leg was the easy decision in the hope of avoiding more muppets and it proved to be a great choice - pretty deserted on what turned out to be a very pleasant spring night.

My redemption was complete after I stopped to move a toad from the riverside of the tow path back to the grass by the nature park; not sure where he was heading but a sheer drop into the river probably wasn't the ideal outcome.

On the subject of nature things really seem to have exploded recently - in the past few days I've seen loads of Muntjac, a few larger deer, a couple of bats, a heron.. which of course is always nice.

About 26.5 miles today, pushing the rolling averages to new heights for the year

It wasn't me!
how are you measuring your heart rate while cycling?
My heart rate monitor is indeed on a chest strap.
That device is connected to the bike computer via the wireless ANT+ protocol.
The bike computer logs the data (location via GPS, time, speed, heart rate - to name a few).
After the ride the bike computer shows some statistics about the ride and can upload the collected data to a "real" computer for deeper analysis.

A nice chilled out commute this evening. I took the short route to the station tonight and stayed on it all the way to Pottyboro. I got the urge though to cycle round the man made lakes on the gravel paths.

The old right hand finger on the left wrist technique and count the number of beats in 60s, its highly accurate but cr@p when you need to brake etc !

I wonder why anyone needs to know, what use are you going to make of the information? If you are cycling it is obvious you are not dead, so carry on. Too much information is not a good thing.

Morning all.
Looks like it's going to be a lovely day here in the SE. Temps are slightly low at the moment and it's quite misty but sunshine and warmth will soon arrive.

Fitted a new chain, cassette and gear cable to the folder last night and it makes for a much better ride.

Some impatient drivers around last night - the award goes to the van who pulled out of a side road, drove for 200 m on the wrong side of the road (past a queue of cars he couldn't wait for a gap to join) and then at the red lights on the next junction merrily indicated left and pulled across everybody. I watched from a bemused distance and listened to the aggravated beeping.

Preferred this morning's birdsong in the sunshine.
