I tend to ride in dark clothing with strategically placed reflectives. I picked up these bands from Planet-x a couple of weeks ago for just £2.99

They're broader than similar bands and fairly long, designed to snap-wrap around wrists or ankles but you could always affix them lengthways to panniers etc.
Always a good idea to have something like that on your legs as the biomechanical movement is good at grabbing attention.

There's also an outlet on ebay that does reflective bands and tape in many colours, including black. When I find the link I'll post it.

All of my cycling longs have reflective strips at the bottom. I glow like an angel when I'm cycling night so I don't end up with the real angels!

have a look at iron on reflective tape on Ebay... I've used it on my gloves and on a jacket. It's not too expensive (although it can if you want it to be) and doesn't need to be ironed-on. I used the heat from my radiator as i wasn't keen on taking an actual iron to my polyester gloves or waterproof jacket. It's still stuck to my gloves after 4 years of daily winter use.

I also wear a reflective Sam Browne belt when I need to be seen. It doesn't take up much room when not needed and doesn't add another layer of clothing you don't want.

Ooh, that looks good! I like the idea of putting a small amount on my rucksack straps or on the jacket I wear most.

I don;t tend to wear cycling clothing so no Altura etc flashes for me, but I've seen runners with similar on legs arms shoes etc and the world and itsd dog wear the bog standard hi viz vest - none of them IMO place you definitively in the drivers mind in the roadway. with my purely cycling head on, I would love to see the use of Hi Viz for pavement activities and delivery people if not banned then heavily curtailed

Hi Viz is more noticeable than reflective in low light. Reflective is better when light is shone directly on it. That's why the better Hi Viz vests have reflective stripes on them.
