WCMnr already has two Cervelo Soloists, a Cervelo P2C, a.n.other hack, Zipp 404s, Zipp Disk... he does nopt, however, have the ability to drive and alas, in this day and age, if you do not it can significantly reduce your employment chances and choices. So he needs to get on and do it.

Ah well, he might as well sell them all. After all, as soon as he can drive he won't need the bikes will he?

That is a shed load of cash though. 1200 buys a lot of driving lessons.

When I learnt to drive though, I wouldn't have passed if not for the regular trips out with my parents. I don't think I could have done it on paid lessons alone.

Luckily WCMnr has cycling in his blood. I agree about the driving with parents - it's valuable time spent getting experience.

Unless you're me, when all you get is experience of your Mum wincing and hitting imaginary brakes.

She still does it now, and I've been driving, accident and penalty free, including minibusses and 7.5 tonne trucks, for 22 years....

To be fair, I'm a lousy passenger too.

Went to get some shopping earlier. Being a yoghurt knitter, I always take a bag with me. I have a day to day courier bag, which is on the compact side, and carry a folded up cloth bag in it. Today, I wanted more bulky stuff, so I carefully transferred the cloth bag to a bigger rucksack.

Then took the courier bag by mistake.

And broke a plate when I got back. You know how you put something somewhere precarious, and think "That could easily get knocked off, but I'll chance it"...

Still, they had black olives on offer, so I stocked up. And got a reduced peshwari naan to have with my curry tonight.

I'll put the kettle on...

Afternoons!
I'm a bit confused. The sky is a funny sort of blue-ish colour, and there's a big shiny yellow...thing up there. What's going on???

There's a road in Leiceser called Saffron Lane.

A name redolent of eastern promise, and aromatic exoticism.

Pity it runs through a council estate known locally as The Saff, mainly comprising rotting concrete post war council houses....

It's quite big and high up. Are you sure it's not visible from all the way up there?

I hope it sticks around all weekend - i need to get some miles in *surveys vast expance of non-trimmness*

In our house, a 'yellow thing' was one of these sponge cloths you use to clean in kitchens or mopping up spills. At some stage, my Mum, groping quickly for the right word in the face of a knocked over mug of tea said "get me the yellow thing!" and it stuck, even though they come in mixed colour packs, so it's often blue or green.... But it's always a 'yellow thing'
