Can I have two tea cakes please, Speicher?

Yes LOTP two tea cakes, that means one for the Doctor, one for Arch and two for me. We have noticed your absence recently, and I am pleased that you are finding time to join us these days.

Arch, thank you for the knitting pattern for "recycled" bags. I had seen it before, but as you rightly said, they lack a certain strength. Based on the fact that you could only put a purse and perhaps phone in them, I wonder about their usefulness. Currently I recycle bags by using them to send clothes etc (that are too small), or general clutter to the Charity Shop. They then send them to the local greengrocers, and then hopefully peeps use them again for something before they end up at the reprocessing plant.

Tomorrow I will be going to Malvern to collect another consignment of coathangers. These would be going to landfill, but I am "diverting" them, with the shop manager's agreement, via my house to a lady who offers an ironing service, and she will collect them from me next week. I am going to Malvern anyway, so I do not need to look at the "miles" too closely.

Someone bicycled here to collect umpty-two garden pots, etc. The ones that he would not be able to use, he was going to take to a local nursery. Did you know that those plastic wrappers that lots of posted items arrive in, can also be recycled. Admittedly they have to be posted to the processors, but bearing in mind how light they are, it will cost very little to post them. I was in a "pound" shop the other day, and saw "jiffy" bags. I think you might find that is a lot cheaper to buy them there than at the post office, but it is not something normally associated with "pound" shops.

Oh yes, I don't think they could be called 'useful'. But so many small handbags/purses aren't useful are they, just decorative, because their small size prevents too much being carried. I mainly carry a small rucksack about, rather than a 'girly' purse, but then I also favour fleece coats and trainers as opposed to anything more feminine. I just think it makes a rather funky conversation piece. Almost an artwork, rather than a practical thing. If I had the nouse, I could probably charge a fortune for them, just like if I had the sheer bullshitting capability I could turn out priceless 'modern art';)

Cheers for the tip about jiffy bags, I'll have a look in my local pound shop.

I've just joined the Downsizer forum (like I NEED another forum in my life!), so I'm hoping to pick up lots of tips on reuse, etc...

Very quiet in here this evening.

* goes to cupboard to find a magazine to read *

"Men's Health" ? who left that here I wonder? Lots of "hunks", but I wonder if they have any brains? How many hours a week do they spend in a gym to look like that.

* takes off shoes, and puts feet up on sofa *
nibbles cashew nuts

I like men to be reasonably fit and healthy, much preferably a non-smoker. His voice, smile and "twinkly" eyes also are important. ;)
Adrian Chiles springs to mind , personality being more important than "good looks".
