Ms tdr1nka is ill? Oh dear. Please pass along condolences and hoping she gets better soon. My I suggest that Ms tdr1nka could benefit from my patented (not really) tonsilitis soother? Get some fresh lemons and a big jar of honey. In a mug place the juice of a fresh lemon and a *large* spoonful of honey. Stir. Add hot, but not boiling water. Stir to properly dissolve the fruity sweet lemony-honey goodness. Wrap self in blanket on sofa, sip the hot lemony-honey goodness to soothe the throat. Repeat as often as desired, the more frequent the better.

Thank you for the tip Waffles, the house is always well stocked with lemons and honey. We have even been known to add ginger, garlic and chillies on occasion for serious flu relief.

The main prob is keeping Ms tdr1nka(6)quiet and still, apart from her throat she is in exceptionally rude health, bouncing off the walls and chattering with the excitement of being off school.
More unfortunately, I have an important but hideously dull errand to run today and have no babysitter so I have to take Ms tdr1nka with. I'll just have to wrap her up, keep her well fed & watered and plan toilet stops with the precision of a military campaign.

More tea for Dads please!

*tea and lemony drinks handed out*

I would second the excellent Waffles suggestion there - hot water, lemon and honey, repeat as needed. I personally like this with a shot of whisky in (or whiskey, according to preference) but I appreciate this might be a bit hardcore for a 6 year old.;)

I generally avoid all things pharmaceutical when it comes to Ms. tdr1nka with the greatest distance given to artificial sweetners etc.
She has only had Calpol when she has had a genuinely high tempreture for example, where some parents I know dish it out with alarming regularity.

As for the faithful toddy, I simply gave up alcahol 8 years ago when it was meddling with meds I was on and after a while I found I really enjoyed sobriety. The one thing I miss tho is a fine single malt of a decent age.
I still enjoy the smell of Talisker or a sturdy pint of 6X but have no desire to drink them.
All the more tea for me!!

My medicinal booze tip will always be, with the onset of a head cold, flu or even tonsilitis, port and brandy. But not for 6 year old.

Trawling back to see what I'd missed, I came across this. Arch, I'd love to de-tousle your hair.
Or get it more tousled.
Whatever you like, really.

Well, you'd better have some tea then.
Strong, white, and not a lemon anywhere in the vicinity.

*hands brew over*

*hides lemon puff biskits*

Ermm, Baileys fudge? I bought some back with me. There might be some Guinness chocolate  if Arch didn't have it all yesterday.

Can't get that other pic uploaded just at the moment. Meanwhile, here's a wartime newspaper I saw on display at our local air museum, with a sentiment I heartily agree with. Or with which I heartily agree, whatever....

All this 'five a day' stuff is over rated I reckon....
