*drinks Irn Bru out of sheer bloody-mindedness*

I don't know, I wander off for a look at the rest of the forum and I get assaulted by a deranged Archaeologist. Good job I wasn't in soapbox I suppose.
Actually, it's always a good idea not to be in Soapbox...

Yeah, I'm always up for some pasta. And I can have some as a reward for NOT succumbing to the syrup sponge pudding in the canteen at lunchtime...

Still want a bacon sarnie though...

Erm, the office has only got a microwave, and microwaved bacon is the work of Beelzebub. I'll buy you a bacon sarnie / roll / baguette / bready thing of choice next time we're on a ride though;). That cafe we stopped in does good bacon baps as well as cakes.

 <snigger> You said baps...

Damn, I'm going to have to buy some bacon on the way home tonight! Oh, and bread, which I've run out of too.

BTW, has anyone here ever seen the point of a BLT sandwich? If I want bacon in a sandwich, it has to be hot and not hidden under salad. I'll allow ketchup, but salad....?

BLTs have Satanic inclinations too, as far as I'm concerned.
The perfect bacon-and-bread comestible involves the following :-
Bacon. Smoked back for preference, but any sort is fine
Bread. White, a bit crusty, but above all fresh.
Butter. Salted, not spread too thick, or you get melted butter everywhere.

Ketchup, brown sauce or barbecue sauce optional. No lettuce.

Anything else is just a bit wrong.

That's pretty much it - although I tend to favour lightly frying the bread in the bacon fat (which explains the shape I am:blush:) rather than buttering it. Although if the bacon is cheap, the fat is often too watery for that.

I remember a dreadful hotel Mum and I stayed in in Inverness for one night (it was almost Fawlty Towers), we weren't optimistic about the breakfast but it was great and when we said so the old hag in reception said "oh, that's my son, he will insist on using decent bacon..."

Cuppa anyone?

BLTs? Just another cold meaty foodstuff. Not a problem in my book, but obviously not a patch on a decent bacon butty.

Oooh, fried bread in bacon fat...
That takes me back. I used to love that when I was a sprog. The best thing, though, was frying the bacon while some bread soaks in beaten egg. Then make the eggy bread in the bacon fat, bacon on top, and scrompf.
Mouth watering somewhat now.

@ Landers

Cheers matey! Tea would be lovely right now, take my mind off bacon for a while. And baps, for that matter. *sniggers*

Wow, that is a pallis! Love the shingled roof! When do you expect to have eggs? Only we've been thinking about bacon a lot today...
