isotonic drinks work well for getting rid of a hangover. Hangover is basically getting dehydrated as the body tries to get rid of the toxic alcohol. Replace the lost fluids (& salts) & you help your body get rid of the alcohol and rehydrate yourself properly. I have done this on the one occasion Wafflycat Minor got severely blatted and he had a major appointment the following morning where he had to be alert and sober. Worked a treat.

But I only had two drinks.
Just checked the wine bottle, it is 9.5% proof.
Have I got such a headache because I mixed my drinks?
Or because I am not used to drinking very much at all, so the toxic effect is much greater?

I think the effecrs of alcohol vary depending on what you have had before hand. I have been rough and hung over on one glass of wine but I have also been able to drink a bottle of wine and a few pints of cider and felt fine.
I have Dioralyte sachets which, taken with a couple of paracetamol, are also very good for the morning after.

If you're not used to drinking alcohol you'll feel the effects far quciker (and comsuming less) than a 'seasoned drinker' will do. You know the answer - drink more!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Old age . Plus not being a regular drinker doesn't help.
I'm not much of a drinker. Used to be up until I was about 23 then it kind of twindled off, and in the last 3 years or so after a particularly bad hang over involving copious amounts of red wine (I mean bottles of it), I vowed never to drink again. Pretty much stuck to it. Very rarely will I drink alcohol now. Usually just at the works Christmas Party and the occassional meal out. It's very cheap, after about 2 or 3 drinks I'm p*ssed!

Lord of the Teapot, it is often said how good cycling is for the heart, I believe they should be doing a joint study of the effects of cycling and tea drinking in combination!

Woah where did all the other teapots come. There's a multiverse of them! Eternal Teapot inflation!

Tea for a newbie?

Welcome in! Pull up a chair, have a cuppa. Any particular sort? We do all kinds, and sometimes if no one is looking, you can smuggle in a c*ff** or a hot chocolate or something.

Now, then, have you read the whole Tea? thread from the beginning?

Never mind if not, in summary, several people have said witty things, several people (some overlap with the first group) have said inconsequential things, and several people (again, with overlap) have discussed biscuit types. Everyso often LOTP hands out tea, inbetween times, whoever is here bungs the kettle on. Everyso often someone who prefers c*ff** trie to start up a rival thread, but they never last, I blame the excess of caffeine.

There's a pool and sun loungers outside, for when it's warm. It's a sort of cafe within cafe, if you see what I mean.

And there might still be a womble locked in that cupboard, I'm not sure...
