I hesitate to sound like I'm on the Actioncameras payroll, but... treat yourself to a helmet cam?
I hope you get a suitable responce. You and Ms T were lucky, by the sound of it. He could have killed one of you. I think the fact that you had a child on board (sadly, in some ways) means you have a complaint that is far more likely to be paid attention to than if you were 'just' a cyclist on your own.
With regard to staying firm on the phone, and apologies if this is teaching grandmother to suck eggs and all that, my tips would be a) rehearse, rehearse, rehearse thet things you want to say, in your head before hand. Even act out scenarios of varying levels of confrontation, and work out the best way to counter what the other person is likely to say
write stuff down. You have the advantage on the phone of being able to refer to notes without being obvious. and c) set a photo of Ms T in front of you when you call, to remind you why it's important to get the message through. I surprised myself a bit on the radio when the DJ brought up red light jumping, but I was able to give the answer as firmly as I did because I had rehearsed that in my head. (and in print, on here, so many times)
Having said all that, I'm far too easily put off doing stuff, so I really do know how you feel.
Now, I really, really, really, have to go and rearrange my CV.
