Gosh, there's been a lot of catching up to do, since Saturday morning. And I'm supposed to be writing a book review... Well, two actually.

One is about a woman who cycled round the world, in 1894, and in one American town, the newspaper reported that people gathered round her bicycle and inspected it with great interest, "as if it were a baby elephant". I wonder if she was a distant relation of mine....

It's a bit chilly here, although the sun is trying to come out. Horrible headwind riding in, I took to the cyclepath alongside the road because I was so slow.

On the upside, I've just handed in my latest job application, so it's fingers crossed all over again, I'm afraid folks.

Cuppa? I'm going to make one to warm my hands up.... <shivers>

*gratefully accepts tea from Arch*

Denizens of Tea? should be assured that my local tea stops of choice do not close at stupidly-early-when-people-are-trying-to-buy-tea-and-massive-amounts-of-cake. The ones that really get my goat are the ones that let you in, give you tea and comestibles, and then start putting chairs on tables and vacuuming around your feet. The last one that did that also had cr@p cake, so I've not been back.
Humph.

Biskit Charlotte? I have a large tin (well, it's actually a plastic tub, like the Mother Of all Tupperware Lunchboxes, but full of crunchy goodness).

Magnificent pussy, by the way. Presumably a naughty cat, hence the whole sitting in the corner thing?

Watch out, Speichers a bit Lear-y today!

Maybe you should send said feline far and few, far and few to the land where the Jumblies live?

Tx *slurp*

I thought they sailed away for a year and a day, to the land where the Bong trees grow?

Actually, I know a few stoners who'd like a Bong tree...

I presume that is the said tree they would then 'be out of'?

Indeed. You use the fruit of the Bong tree for smoking naughty things.
Ahem.
Or so I've been told, by someone who never did it, and certainly didn't inhale, and wasn't even in Amsterdam at the time. Allegedly.

When Seamus the tiger was still young, he was taken on a trip to Amsterdam, where he was led sadly astray:

As if that wasn't enough, they fed him beer too...

No wonder he looks a little old and frazzled these days...

Please tell me you haven't exposed your tiger to the Red Light district...
Poor little mite. He looks traumatised.
Bring him along on the 12th. He can hang out with my herd of elephants. Some of them are Indian, so they can reminisce about home, chill him out a bit.

And the place where that photo was taken (by one of your reprobate student colleagues, because no denizen of Tea? would be in a coffee shop after all;)) can't even spell a simple word like Lebanon.
Actually - I have some Lebanese red at the moment:ohmy:. Chateau Musar, a cabernet/ shiraz blend from Bekaa Valley. 'Snice:biggrin:. Propping up the wine rack as we speak.

I can assure you, it wasn't me in that coffee shop, I've never been to Amsterdam. I just had to pay for his rehab afterwards. Have you any idea how hard it is to book a tiger into The Priory?

Yeah, right. You didn't inhale, then?
Not been to Amsterdam for, ooh, years and years. I may have encountered spacecake there, but I'm saying nothing. Nothing, I tells you!
Could Seamus not have just gone cold turkey? I bet tigers like turkey.
