All told you're better having your Mother over to live with you unitil they've gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is very thoughtful of you to suggest that! She can come and stay here and after a few days I will escape to somewhere nice, anywhere at all.

Fortunately, I think they are only going to be there for a day. She does not drive, so it does not matter how many vehicles they have with them, and she will enjoy the "spectacle".

Taking the biscuit
My legs were once in an episode of Grange Hill, sticking out, road side from under a Ford Granada.

The BBC were already using properties in the area but had decided to do some moving street shots with dialogue, on local side roads, one of which was mine.
Aunty Beeb normally give residents prior notice of filming but had neglected to inform anyone on my street.

Early that morning I was fitting a new exhaust to my housemates car, he was a mini cab driver and needed the car for work that afternoon.

So there I was at 8am, under the car busily removing the old exhaust, AC/DC playing loudly on the stereo, when a 'charming' assistant with a clip board popped her head under the car, much to my surprise, and said 'Look you can't do that now, we are filming here all day today.'

I explained that I had not been informed and I had to get the repair done so my friend could get to work at midday.

When she started to argue with me, I said I would only speak to the Director.

He came over, I said how we had not been warned of the filming and explained my position. He offered me £20 to not fix the car while they filmed that day.
I then explained he would have to compensate my friend who would not be able to go to work and would be earning much more than that.

The Director said that would not be possible so I said I'd make a concession and turn the music off but I still had to, and was going to continue to work on the car.
I also added that if he'd like me to contact his Producer I was happy to do so, and begrudgingly, I believe we reached an agreement.

And so, somewhere lurking in the BBC archives there is an episode of Grange hill with me laying under a car in the background!

Tea anyone?

At least I've got some hols to look forward to, and there maybe some more interesting work in the pipeline. What do you do to keep yourself amused (if you don't mind my asking)?

Do you mean hobbies or employment?

At present I'm signed off work after a mental breakdown some years ago.
I do still have occasional bits of work as a session musician and half the week I am a single Dad. The rest of my time I fill with cycling, personal music projects, a youth group and fixing friends cars & bicycles.

Touch wood I'll be passing my Cycling Instructor tests in October and getting back into part time work again.

Ok, maybe it's not atrophy, I'm just knackered!

I had a couple of road rage incidents in the build up to my breakdown and I didn't cycle for a couple of years.
Now I am back to full time utility cycling and commuting I have really tempered my riding to not put myself in bad positions etc. I found it fairly easy as I just reverted to how I used to ride motorbikes.

I'm wading thru Cyclecraft prior to training and a lot of the prescribed techniques are how I would ride anyway so, hopefully, I'm halfway there!?

What can I have for lunch? It needs to be something that either does not weigh anything at all, or weighs a negative number of ounces. I have an appontment with the Practice Nurse as part of my weight management thingy. I missed the appointment last month, so have two months of weight loss to account for. ;):smile:

Victoria sponge - If I take the jam out?
Ring doughnut - If I just eat the middle bit?

Tdr1nka, I am not surprised that you are feeling very tired. You had a very busy three weeks in Ireland, and then two days to travel back.
I always feel very tired after a holiday. I know it is not easy, but you might need some rest.
