Morning TD!
Sling a cuppa this way if you'd be so kind! Gordon Bennet, this has to be my most disheartening Tuesday in recent memory - why couldn't the bank holiday continue until about 3pm on Friday???

Mornings each!

Congrats on the length Chuffers - it's always good to realise you're still capable of a long session after a whole run of ones that are over almost before you're started.;) A ride that goes on all day is just so deeply satisfying, even though you're completely sh@gged out afterwards.

What?

Update on the great Tea? thread plane/boat bogde project.

TheDoc and I went on a bit of a recce yesterday to the air museum. We saw a lot of potentially useful stuff, and have a revised shopping list, based on a rather nice replica early monoplane we saw:

a pair of bike wheels, a pair of skis, a very large piece of cloth (old curtains?), some wooden struts, a lot of bits of brake or gear cable, and a small engine. Or a Merlin.

There were a few engines lying about on display. Perhaps we should think about making it a multi-engined vehicle? Do we think there's any way to match up a Merlin, a Hercules, a Rolls Royce Olympus and a lawnmower engine?

Oh and there was a WW2 American glider, the sort that can carry a jeep - the front end looked quite a lot like the -ravan bit of the shedravan. Would you like us to see if we can cut it off for you Tdr1nka? It might make a good conservatory, with enough gaffer tape round the join...;)

The offer of London hospitality @ tdr1nka towers is always open to you Landers.
Ta! I'm drawing up a list of people to visit, just need to work out my range on the folder and get used to finding my way about (I'm a great believer in the AtoZ).

Well, if you include trains, I guess up to 400-500 miles or so?;)

Yeah, that bit isn't worrying me too much!

I'm hoping to avoid the tube etc. Part of the rationale behind the folder was to save money by avoiding the need for public transport. I think the rest of the rationale was along the lines of (n+1)...

Landers,
Flag up when you're heading London-wards and I'll aim to head down there as well. It's always good to meet up with Tdr1nka!
The kettle's always on at DoctorTowers too.

At the Plum Fayre yesterday, I carried out extensive Research. I found the cock pit of a fighter plane, preloaded on a low-loader/flat bed truck.
We could used that and add bits on the back. When I find the thingy wot connects the camera to the puter, I will upload the pics.

I would also add that this research made me very hungry so I had to partake of a speciality sausage and fried onion bap, and later on a proper ice cream.

All Teddy Bears with parachutes, landed safely. The biggest danger they faced was being blown onto one of the many bits of roof or towers that form part of the Abbey. The acceleration of the Bears on the Zip Wire, however, caused alarm, because of the steep angle of the wire.

I also arranged the purchase of an owl. He will be ready for re-homing next week. He is very tame and I have been told that he will not fly away.

I have been looking again at doing some voluntary work, and found what could be an interesting placement helping student learn English. I could do any morning or afternoon that I wish. The drawback being that the placement is in Sri Lanka. A smidgeon to far for an afternoon, I think.;)

I think you should go. If you take a day off, head up to Pinniwalla (it's on the way to Kandy, on the left after the Tea? plantation) you could get a baby ellyfant from the elephant orphanage there. Sneak it onto the plane as a large piece of hand luggage, job'd a good'un.
