Hot honey, lemon and fresh ginger. And whisky. Definitely whisky.

Get well soon!!!

Hmmm <thinks> I might just have a tot of whisky left in a bottle at home. Plenty of honey anyway. Will a Jif lemon do, or does it have to be fresh?xx(

No cold. Just having a bad day.

Couldn't get motivated to get out of bed this morning.

Forgot to take any milk to work, so can't have tea.

Went out at lunchtime intending to buy some (among other things). Forgot.

When to canteen intending to buy some (although it's stupidly overpriced and only semi-skilled). They didn't have any. So still no tea.

And I'm wrestling with a stupid form. It's a protected Word document. I have to put in scientific data. This requires horizontally-formatted tables, but because the document's protected, I can't put in section breaks to get horizontally-formatted pages.

I'm b*****ed if I'm going to reformat twenty-odd tables to do that! Plus, Word crashes from time to time because it doesn't like handling complex documents in the first place.

I'm not happy.

But I'm cheered at the thought of Arch plucking. How are you getting on?

Ow!xx(

Cheers Uncle Phil, I'm coming along. I can remember the chords of C, F, Am, G7, Cmaj7 (I think) and C6 (that's all open strings I think) off hand. I can pretty much move from C to F, or C to G7, albeit a bit slowly, so I can manage a few songs. I have a book with a play-along CD, and I can keep up with the earlier songs in it - some of the later ones are a bit too complicated just yet. And I'm not making too awful a sound, I think. It's nice to be able to create a few chords, and remarkably effective for a simple instrument I think.

Anyway, I'm having fun! Need to work on my strumming though.

I have a friend who teaches guitar to school kids. He says he often puts a box of mars bars at the front of the class and tells them that if any of them can change chords quicker than he can, they win the box.

He strings them along by changing slowly for a bit, but no-one ever wins the box!

Hope your ukulele-ing keeps up Arch, but I must admit I find the abbreviated description of "uke" a bit odd - in my martial arts, uke (pr. oo-kay) roughly translates as "crash-test dummy"!

There's probably a connection between car crashes and the noise I'm making on the thing just now...xx(

Dalestar, which instrument do you strum? If it's the flute, you're doing it wrong....

Oh, I thought you might have the same cold I seem to have....xx(

Ah, it's not so bad, a bunged up nose and a lot of sniffing. And a good excuse to eat loads - 'feed a cold, starve a fever'. Needless to say, if I ever have a fever, I ignore that....

Tea anyone?, I'll bung the kettle on.

Oh, I also have sore fingertips on my left hand, from practising my new ukulele.

We might need someone medicalogically qualified here, but I thought the expression was "If you feed a cold, you will end up having to starve a fever". Some clever person will clarify it for us, hopefully.

No. no, that can't be right. Whenever I get a cold (not that often) I stuff myself, and I never get a fever....

I think I'll stick with my version, it suits me better! (Mmm, tuna pasta tonight, I think, spaghetti with pesto, and a sauce of tuna, tomatoes, black olives, red pepper and anything else I think will go in).

Damn, I fancy that now but I have a vegetable stew and dumplings nearly ready which I'm sure will be equally yummy.
