Hmm. I like the first one, but the second's a bit forced...

Erm. I have a computer. Fancy some company, so's I can tell you how far it is?

Oh, ok! (although I just went and got a battery for mine, after about 3 years of meaning to...) I was thinking of Howden and back, on Saturday (only because I'm not sure the cafe in Howden is open on Sunday...) Any good?

Probably via Elvington and Seaton Ross on the way out, and Elvington and Wheldrake on the way back....

The ISS was clearly visible again. I'm astounded I've not bothered to look for it before now.
Wasn't quite as bright as last night, as the sky was slightly hazy.

Oh sugar lumps, I knew there was something I was supposed to be doing when "Criminal Intent" finished. That's Vincent D'Onofrio's fault.:smile:

Tomorrow at 2249 then, or Saturday at 2139, or Sunday 2205.

I might get a separate thread going, rather than keep all the orbitting goodness to ourselves.

Thank you for that detail of the times. I have a large piece of paper on my desk with a very short list of essential things to do. I have added the ISS times to that list.

Would you like to know what else is on the list? No, that would be far too boring.

You're welcome.
Obligatory disclaimer - other satelites are available.
What I'd really like is another decent comet. It's been a while since Hale-Bopp. That was most spectacular...

How long ago was it that we could see the "orangey" planet? I seem to recall quite a few clear evenings when I could watch that.

Which reminds me

Twinkle twinkle little star

shouldn't it be Twinkle twinkle little planet?

Orangey planet? Is that a technical term?

Mars is kind of reddish, Saturn is a bit yellowy, Jupiter and Venus both look white to me. Mercury is very hard to see and Uranus is reputed to be just-about visible to the naked eye under perfect conditions. The Grauniad has a bit towards the beginning of each month telling you what's visible, in terms of planets and stuff. It's on the Weather page IIRC.
