Ten Great Hornbills and some Kingfishers, I don't know how many.

Do kingfishers eat seahorses?:girl:

When you release a seahorse, do you give it a smack on the rump and say "Swim free, Champion!"

Nice work though. Sounds great.

great place to be dogsbody though but you are getting hands on conservation work?

I will be, especially this weekend. I was quite adamant about getting my hands dirty, so to speak. It's difficult to get hands on experience without paying an eco-tourism organisation the best part of 2 grand.

I've made a bumper pot of tea, and filled thermoses, for the outage. Biscuits are rationed, just in case - two each per hour.

See you all on the other side....

Well, here we are, washed up on a foreign, yet slightly familiar shore.

The Thermos survived, but the sandwiches got a big soggy, and I had to use the biscuit tin to beat off a shark. First job of the day, buy a new biscuit tin.

Tea anyone?

Morning all!

Tea? Yes please! Off shopping in a bit, Mrs L wants a mixing bowl. I can only assume this means more baking!

Nice!

I'm off shortly to fit the sidepods on my Catrike, I might take it for a short spin, but I need to do some tidying later, as Mum comes up for the day tomorrow, and my table has accumulated the usual piles of old paperwork.

There's something very... I dunno, reassuring, about buying mundane stuff with a partner. Some might find it dull, but even ordinary things can become almost heirlooms. There are bits and pieces my Mum has, that are 40 years old, and still working - I know because they've been there all my life.

She has some kitchen scales that came with two mixing bowls that upturned to store over the scales - they were free with tokens off Weetabix, in the early 70's. They are the add and weigh sort, where you can reset to zero to add each ingredient. She retired the scales a couple of years back when both bowls had developed cracks. But she still has them, and stuck on the front is the piece of Dymo tape my sister stuck on them when she was about 5, that says "Mumm I love you"...
