Yes please!

I've just stopped for lunch, on my first unemployed Thursday. So far I have: cycled to Bike Rescue to see if they had any used tyres for me to collect (they didn't, but should have next week), cycled back into town and been to pay a cheque in the bank, and do some shopping, come home and processed 7 tyres I already had in (in 75 minutes - just over 10 mins a tyre, not too bad, to strip out the bead and trim both sidewalls from the tread).

This afternoon I will clean an old chain to dismantle, and put together some keyrings, and possibly mess about cutting up some coloured plastic bottles to prototype decorative material for an upcoming art project.

:heat:

Ah....:cuppa:

Calm down woman you are doing more than me and I am working

Of course, I'm doing all this on the gamble that it starts, eventually, to pay! Otherwise, I'm left with the worlds biggest unsold craft collection....

Are you going to be selling them online or just locally

Online eventually I hope. I need to work out how best to do it, and have plenty of stock in hand.

ttcycle did tell me about Etsy, which is an online craft market, so I might well sign up there. That's the scary big step, I think. At the moment, I've only sold through St Nicks, and they'll continue to provide an outlet, maybe selling them at events and so on, with the charity taking a cut. Bike Rescue are interested in having them in their little shop too.

When you have plenty of stock you could always try ebay, thats where I started so I could test the market selling before I wrote a website for selling my stuff on. Also the I used ebay for a crafty way of getting advertising for my website once it was up and running because you can get lots of exposure on there.

If you do set up a website let me know and I will link to you from some of my high ranking sites for a return link of course  I have a couple that are on page 1 on google.

Oh cheers Phil, I'll keep you posted!
Now, I ought to nip out again shortly, I need a jumbo can of WD40 for chain cleaning (don't tell Mickle, and anyway, it's not a chain that's going to used as such, I just need the individual links).

Well done on the production rate, I hope it works out well.:highfive:

I am pottering today, still didn't sleep well last night, Wizard of Oz earworm!
Did manage to get up a bit earlier today so I will be able to tidy up the plastering mess from yesterday and maybe do some joinery. Not going to do any plastering today as my old working clothes are all in the washer now. Will get a wash on later on.

It is a good degreaser. It might also be worth looking at specific degreasers that may be cheaper in bulk then WD40 would be in cans.
Meths would work, you just need a sealed container, a large jar maybe, to store it and it can be strained through a fine cloth or kitchen towel to remove crud prior to storage.

I use white spirit on my chain soak it in a sandwich tub for a while then scrub it with a tooth brush and I do the same with the rear cassette.

Ah thanks, yes, white spirit or meths will be cheaper won't it. I'll pop out to Boyes now (local cheap sort of version of Wilkinsons) and see what they've got.
