Fair enough - you don't need any Dutch courage Helen - sounds like a fantastic trip- going solo or got company?

Going solo. I can go at my own pace then. Might even go down the west coast of the states whilst I'm out there:biggrin:.

Can I have a tea with something strong in it. I've just told work I want to resign to cycle across Canada:ohmy::biggrin::bicycle:.

Blimey! I was going to ask for suggestions for a January ride, but that's extreme...

Goodness, it's a long way. How long are you going to take over it?

And watch out, in case you are offered a clamato juice...

Anyway, that's brilliant. Go for it!

I'm working on about 3 months. It hasn't quite sunk in yet what I've done...

Morning all!

Not the funnest of rides in - the main roads were fine, but I had to push past the Minster at my end and down the access road at this end, due to a couple of inch thick coating of what looked just like light brown muscovado sugar - I just didn't dare ride on it.

Also, I think my tyres need pumping up, so I felt sluggish even on the clear bits....

Kettle's just boiled...

Ta. Just in from sorting out the birds: domesticated and wild. The wild ones seem to really appreciate the apples, peanuts and suflower hearts I've put out for them this morning. The hens appreciated their hot breakfast of a sort of porridge I make for them (millet/sunflower hearts/linseed/porridge oats/pearl barley/couscous), and started wolfing it down as soon as I placed it in their bowls.

I've just topped up the straw bedding in the henhouse. They now have a foot of straw to snuggle down in overnight. Nolo is a funny hen. As soo as I opened up the henhouse & started chucking in fresh straw, she was in there and started rearranging the 'new furniture' to her taste.. To the sound of much happy hen clucking & purring (yes, they sort of purr), every handful of straw I chucked in was examined and bits moved to a more pleasing position (from a hen POV).

I have a hen with OCD..

Our pet rabbit is in his second house which is in the living room; his first one is out in the yard - a palacial four room mansion with large run, but my missus says he is too cold out there.

Personally I think he would be happier with a foot of new straw and shredded invoices than sitting in his indoor cage sipping water to keep cool. Still ... not my rabbit!

You're sure she's not a Bowerbird?

Saw them in the latest Attenborough series, one was decorating his bower with very brightly coloured live ladybirds, and getting very frustrated when they refused to sit still in the pattern he'd arranged...

Just having my ham sandwich and a piece of cake from the bakery. Why do I feel so bug-eyed today? I got an extra half hour in bed even! (that's probably why, I lay in when I could have got up).
