ttcycle said:It is indeed! It's what happens - when a flippant remark or hands shook can just spur you onto something much more.
My friend ran her first Marathon after we met up in the pub for drinks after she came back from travelling- she said 'maybe' she was going to do it but we shook and she didn't back out.
So here's a digital handshake--! No smiley for it which is a shame.
As for me, we'll have to see what happens- will have to work up to a century- long distances are not my strong point!!
Up to May last year, my maximum ever was 68, on my old trike. I did 70 in May in company, and 100 in June, alone. It hurt, I won't pretend it didn't, but the bits that hurt were my bum, and shoulders and hands - basically the contact points. My legs only started to complain at 90. It was sheer utter bloodymindedness that got me there. That, and creeping up on it - I didn't set out determined, but once I'd done 70, then 80, there was no wimping out. (The bummer being that I got back into York on 90, and had to turn round and double back for 5 miles to be sure of the total. I finished on 100.23)
So, I'll see your LEL shake, and raise you a century shake.
