Been over to Tadcaster?

No, going only as far as Tadcaster to buy a bike pump would be merely a bit keen. We went to Harrogate!

Spa Cycles, a little Aladdin's Cave of stuff, a proper old style shop where you take a list and read it out and a chap bustles about finding things and offering more variations than you can decide on...

Mad Doug - I'm not sure there ever was a t'pit at Tadcaster ;) - but there was an airfield which is now a retail/industrial park, complete with a rather good cafe.... But we didn't go that way yesterday.

I did think Tadcaster didn't sound quite far enough. I've been to Spa Cycles a couple of times. Very interesting shop. There's also a very interesting thread over on the CTC forum about the varying quality of their customer service. Sounds like there's one very grumpy bloke who works there.

Ah Spa Cycles. Yes indeed - an excellent range of chainrings

My mate had an innocent phone conversation with someone at Spa Cycles which involved some Anglo Saxon arriving in his ear. So yes the customer service can be "interesting".

Today I went on a walk with #1 daughter and learned a bit about the local geology. She even let me loose with her hammer. The views from the top of the Hill we had to walk over were absolutely stunning tho. We examined a major fault - sandstones here and mudstone there. The mudstone was highly polished where it had been thrust upwards (heat and friction).

How did you get on with the 250km Audax on Saturday? Did you get wet?

218km it was (thankfully). It was OK - very very headwindy for 2/3rds. We had some drizzle and a couple of showers but not enough to get us wet. But I couldn't read the route sheet or see the scenery very well as my specs were continually being splashed with droplets. Hence I missed Stonhenge when we went past . The last 25 miles were pretty quick as we did get a tail wind then. There were 5 white horses carved into the downs on the route. I missed one because it was behind me (apparently). Worth doing again when I can actually see.......

Forecast was pretty accurate for Saturday but today's got altered at the last minute and it was a brilliant day. Much better for pedalling - but I did the geology instead

My leg infection has kept me off my bike since Thursday. I am not a happy bunny.
OTOH, the associated fever means I can't face food since then either, so at least I'm losing weight.
Scant compensation IMHO. Can someone pass me a virtual Battenberg?

Am I safe over here?

Surely she's calmed down a bit. Has anyone tried lacing tea with Valium?

I spent an entertaining afternoon bundling and folding carrier bags...

Tea?
