We went to Sainsbury's last night. There was a gap on the shelves where the teacakes usually live

Sounds like Hell Baggy.

I was too shocked to make my way to the curranty version.
Ian, it was its own special kind of hell

All I can say is that you seem to be quite easily shocked, Baggy!
Which rather surprises me.

I have a pot of extra strong Tea. This evening I shall be dining with my brother and sister-in-law. She seems to take particular delight in disagreeing with me on any subject whatsoever.

I do wonder what she would make of this suggestion:

Their daughter has a degree in History and a Masters in something or other. She is struggling to find a job. There is a temporary job (six months), twenty hours a week, at a local museum. Admittedly it is a fairly junior post, but it would give her experience of working in a museum (which she currently does not have). She would be earning money, but still have time left for searching for work (seeing as how looking for work is very time-consuming). After six months they would presumably be able to give her a reference. If you take on a temporary role, are you committed to the six months do you think?

I am posing this question on this thread because I think the sensible peeps on here, will give me a reply without throwing brick bats at me, if they disagree with my suggestion.
And if she doesn't want it sling it my way, I only have 13 hours of teaching to live on (though it consumes 40 hours of my week).
She would be foolish not to at least try for it I think.

Thanks everyone for your comments about the job. Yes, it would seem people agree with me that it would be worth applying for. It is fairly close to where she lives, but too far from where I live to make it a sensible option.

I (very bravely imo) suggested it to my sister in law this evening. Mainly because I have seen the job advert on the Worcs County Council website, and I know they do not usually put the job adverts in the local papers.

I would gladly send the job your way, Night Train, but it is in an old sort of castle building, and might be a tad difficult to re-locate the building to your part of the world.

* thinks - where could we relocate Hartlebury Castle to so that Night Train and Arch and I can all work there? * ;)

A few people who work at the Resource Centre started as Volunteers and had a "foot in the door" when new jobs came up.

I had proper fish in batter, and hand cut chips with messy mushy peas, followed by chocolate sponge pudding with butterscotch sauce, and a smidgeon of cream, washed down with some lager.

I applied for a NT job at Little Morton Hall. It was only to show visitors around but it would have been nice and a good way to wedge a size 9 boot in the door.
I'd agree with volunteering for such places as a pssible way in too.

Do you think the castle would fit in my back bed room? I could have a little space there if I move the KMX.;)

Night Train, yes, I am almost certain that if you moved the bicycles out, that there would be room in your back bedroom for a castle.

Your skills would be very useful in the Restoration department. There are model cars and large caravans.

There is also a Tea Room if when you get thirsty.

Arch could do the Historical information, and I could look after Reception, sell tickets, and guidebooks.

That looks like fun, I'd enjoy somehing like that. Hartlebury is almost as big as my house though so may have to move a bit more then a few bikes out.;)

Be worth it though to have you and Arch in my back bedroom.

They have all sorts of interesting events there. Just a shame it is not closer. Just noticed it is 16 hours a week not 20.

I shall save up for a helicopter, learn how to fly it, and then travel to Greater Manchester two days a week. ;)

Moff to bed now. Good night all. :tired:
