Maybe we could offer sticks of celery and carrots to nibble on next year, leave the biscuits and cakes to those that need feeding up a bit like Arch and Ian?

I'm not sure where you get the idea I need feeding up!

I too could lose a bit. Well, a bit more, I've shed a stone or so in the year since I've been doing this job. I think a few pounds have crept back on in the last few months - working in the cold tends to make you hungry, and I've probably been over compensating for the cold.

I'd second the cycle touring advice. I even managed to lose weight on a trip to France, with hotel accommodation and wine every night!

Come the New Year, it's off the booze, on with the sensible eating, and down the gym twice a week.

Visited my Mum on the way to work and came away with 3 bags of presents including biscuits, chocolates and what looks like 2 huuuuuuge bottles of Magners cider

gonna have my work cut out eating that lot before the 1st of Jan, you might have to help me out
