Good afternoon, budge up! Grey and gloomy here but I'm making lamb balti for tonight. Last day here in Saffron Walden.

There's a stiff breeze today so, yes, it's a bit cooler. 26c with a real feel of 27c. The wind is due to drop tomorrow so we are due 26c with a real feel of 29c.

Every day is much the same now although it is due to get much hotter both night and day and more humid at night. The locals don't expect any rain until October!!!

We have got somewhat used to the heat now as we are wearing similar clothes to the locals when we go out at night whilst the 'tourists' are all in shorts, t-shirts and flipflops, even at night. I think we are going to feel somewhat cold when we get home in the second half of next week.

That takes me back. Due to my education my 'accent' is RP. When I first started full time work I was somewhat peeved to be told that I 'talked posh'.

My childhood was as working class as one could get!!
