I was the opposite, I couldn't run for toffee (or scones etc etc).
In secondary school (I'm looking at you Greenock High), on sports day, you HAD to take part in one event.
I just used to say, gimme the Lochgelly now....
Lochgelly was THE place for making the best Belts (or Strap)..
I drew it a dirty look the last time I was passing through Fife..

My cycling average speed is sloooooooooooooow..
