Morning from the middle of the central belt rainforest... :hello:
I'm sure I heard a parrot complaining about the heat:eek:
or the thing that goes 'oop oop oop'
Cold refreshments at the reedy, folks:cheers:
Owdo to intrepid explorers wherever they they are....
You shouldn't go with the words of one bird. Listen to the bees and the trees as well.
"Oop, oop, oop"! Would that be the prices in shops.
Important to drink enough, just don't over think these matters.

They sit luxuriating in oil until the tin is opened and put on sarnies OR eaten straight from the tin..
My mum used to buy tins and tins of them and tuna (kippers too)
plus the fish I caught off the docks?
plus a fish supper every pay day night..
I had a fish-filled upbringing.......
Do I like fish? except mackerel......

I remember my younger days, you found a pub that knew how to pour beer..
Too many were sloppy..
I refused many a pint if bogging looking....
I'm sure technology now will have improved that ratio..
I don't drink out much but find anything served up is okay..
I will say, in all my trips across the water, I only asked for a replacement once and got a free one as an apology, we spent our week in his pub.
Nights were raucous, Ballyg*wan water was the first thing touched in the morning....
You never get a time gentlemen please..
It's a 'the guards ar in the next village' or a knock on the window and a shape standing outside:laugh:
I'd say my dearest ever beer was bought in the black pool of eire..
Temple Bar, my wee trendy day out
I'd copyright that first line, before the marketing departments see it. Can you imagine the sort of ad they'd be doing with that line.
There used to be at least one tin(large) a week eaten here. Not had any in a while now.
Sitting on the dock of the bay, rod in hand and fish in bag...
The joys of being near a major river. Suppose you've managed to hide/disguise the gills by now.

The choice in the countryside areas weren't as great. Quaint looking village pub on the outside, to lure passing trade in. Sell them anything before they realised. Technology may well have improved, but few have time to fill the glass properly. A glass with a quarter of it being the head is no good.
Seldom got a replacement, just didn't drink it. A near full glass, untouched on the bar says a lot.
What were the apologetic words they used that convinced you to do that.
National anthem, lighting down to half and then the serious drinking would start. Like you say, the knock on the door, the shadow at the window...
You should go back one day, for the day.

I think they are on the gravy train now..
unchecked by the previous lot in power and now the same led by 'I'll pass anything for free £60 online shop' .,
Labour ? they should be ashamed..
Hardie et all are at warp speed..

31c at the Towers yesterday....
a toaster...
I was chilled slightly by a fan almost at its highest setting......
I look forward to the rain tomorrow.
My spuds in a tub looked great yesterday morning, by 8pm? fainted badly.
My wee collection of apples is still there (8of)
Better get a photo before the fruit thieves appear, 'the one for sorrow' lads..
My dad always said a 'Flounder for me, son', if times got tough, I'd swap a cod for one..
I liked the odd place, saithe (coalies) were made into fishcakes, Dock of the Bay, right enough, with amazing views
When I moved to the then-fading holiday resort, I kept up the fishing habit.
Girls , beer or a session on some beach? Beach always one..
Funnily, the weekend I met the future Mrs M, it was Friday, but I had a full night planned on a faraway beach. I said, "Meet you tomorrow morning (Saturday) and Sunday if you want," explaining that Saturday night fishing, tides etc was tough to a non-angler.
Home day today...
I'll catch up (maybe) on some chores (only if below 25c)

I’ve been eating more sardines lately too. I found a nice brand I like and buy them from Amazon occasionally.

Hello @Mo1959
I love sardines in oil..
those are posh ones....
I'm more the own-brand type..
miserable even with the sar of dines..

Hope all is well,
I passed through recently but hey, memory has gone when

We have tuna in season chasing the shoals but I assume we must have restrictions on catching them up in Jockland, Mind you, we do a good Scots herring.
I better run, machine has stopped spin cycle..
washing out time...
I saw one of the recent Susan Calman cruise things recently and chuckled loudly at her saying underwear to the inside, big teeshirts to the outside of her whirlygig:eek:

Stay cool

Good morning :hello:
Hope you all had lotsa cold drinks yesterday,
Ice lollies are allowed with lashings of ice cream too:eek:
Owdo
I'd enough to keep the fluid levels up and me going, you?
The frozen section in the local Aldi was all but empty dinnertime yesterday.
You like ice cream! Odd that.

It'd take more than a free £50 online shop for me.
They all promise you the world, but once in they realise they could never deliver anyway.

Got similar temperatures here. School holidays start tomorrow round these parts, it'll chuck it down...
You didn't move very far yesterday, or had a portable fan. Hope you shared with Mrs M. The ice cream and the fan...
So long as they stay blight free this year they be fine. Maybe on the small side, but fine.
Day three of the hosepipe ban down these parts, people already moaning. Wouldn't be so bad if they were watering their gardens, instead of filling plastic pools in them.
Take the shine of yer apples, try and confuse them.
You were born into a flat fish family then? And it's the simple things that cost nothing that are missed the most. And nowadays if it's on yer doorstep it's not appreciated. Folk have to travel to get similar views for them to be worth it.
Old habits die hard, that and any free supplementation of yer diet, for very little effort would have always been welcome. Especially if there were extras available. Night under the stars, cold drink to hand...
You ever teach her, the future Mrs M, to catch her own. Putting yer theory into practice to help explain it?
Wrong type of day to be driven round, and not really a day for the bike either.
Don't think you'll be doing many chores today in that case...

I took her to one of my fave spots, directly across the loch from Faslane (handy if war broke out, we might have heard the incoming missile but nothing else), but she never took to it.
The river estuary then became bereft of the cod it once produced so branched into other forms, fly, coarse, piking....still got my trout fly gear and recently offered it to my son in law...
Mrs M does do a lovely piece of haddie in batter.....

In good books, washing 1 hung out and spun, washing 2 washed, spun and hung out (forgot the conditioner though) but got a pass mark..

I wouldn't trust yon mob in power, you at least knew the last lot were at it..
I'm off before I use swear words

Just one of those rumours that are flying about all over the place then?

You certainly knew how to impress the lasses back in yer younger days, I'll give you that.
Missile would have been supersonic, doubt you'd have heard it. Any fish you'd caught would have been cooked though. Wonder why you couldn't convince her...
Always a shame when things like that disappear. You reckon the recipient of yer fly fishing gear might try a fishing trip to Ireland?
Does she have you as chief taster, always ready to help...

Two lots, and only messed up on one. Good going. And a pass is a pass, report card marked "Could do better!".
Cooled down slightly then, if you got that lot done.

They're all at it, just some are better at not being the first to get caught.

Temps weren't as high today, just under 5° C less, 26 to yesterday's 31° C...
17 just now.....

Think the spot we fished was around one mile as the crow flew..
El bang right enough, I still reckon the panic of wondering where they'd put the nuclear arsenal after a Yes vote would have been fun, where would have taken it darn sarff?
The hills in the surrounding area to the N is interesting....
spent tonight playing with a satellite SDR programme..
need my headphones to listen though..
Think someone has taken them downstairs

T'was cooler, but just as close. Cloudy skies tonight as well, compared to last night.

Yer fish, and goose, would still have been cooked though. Even at that distance.
There were talk of coming to some sort of agreement with the Scottish Government on keeping the bases in Scotland active. Weapons and all. Jobs being cited as the major reason. One possible site has become the site of a new reactor, for electric power. Work done to date on the site hasn't gone down well. Away from London, that you can be certain of.
Interesting, in what way?
Any luck with what you did manage to do.
Mrs M took yer headphones! I'd not stand for that...

I remember the talk of negotiations but our ruling party were anti-nuclear..
Still would have been interesting to locate it all in the Home Counties.
Mabel's hair would turn blue. Sorry, already rinsed.
I'm not bothered about nuclear power tbh, living most of life with 10-12 miles of where all the big stuff has been stored..
Mind you, it doesn't matter, the charges will be high whatever...

Aye, cracking program, SkyRoof, for satellite tracking for using with SDRs mostly as they are pretty wideband, compatible with the one I have, must get sound output fixed on that tower, dunno what the problem is with it. This program is a game changer at this level - FREE.
Must fly, being summoned..

It'd have been interesting on the job front in negotiations. No jobs would be lost, if the bases remained open and active.
Down on the south coast, where all the naval bases are, would have been the best place logistically. Wales would have been out of the question due to Irelands proximity.
Mabel's hair would have been better red, white and blue. Rinsed or not...
The "objections" heard the most, by myself, about relocating them southwards was property prices would plummet, followed by insurance would increase.
Should the worst happen, would you really be making an insurance claim, much less thinking about moving to another area!
It(nuclear power) never brought us electric too cheap to meter, and if it could they'd only increase the standing charge.

How many satellites are orbiting that hill to the north?
So you're now watch those watching you, watching them. Is there any means of identifying what you may be tracking, or is it a fixed output signal yer getting.
Is the headphone lead in the output socket or the input socket?
Free! You should have got two. It's not a testing version, where any bugs are found by users.
Hope you didn't keep anyone waiting...
