I'm bloody 14.5 stone
I have a very long way to go to get down to there .
and still struggle downhill blue numbers but just slower than everyone else
I like the blue numbers but they don't make up for the white ones on the way up .

LIVING THE DREAM
Had a loan of my mates Zip Super 9 today and did the Epic Drafting Session on my tod using Bridgy's ghost as a marker.
It started of as a recce but I dropped my chain at km 0.9 due to an accidental front ring downshift.
I managed to reset it before the back wheel even stopped turning and mounted up and chased Bridgy hard.
What a dream the wheel and tyre is (I want one) with is whoosh whoosh and total lack of air movement from the back wheel.
By the time I caught Bridgy I was on a mission and continued the motion as I might be working late Thursday.
I have managed to set a reasonable time for Bill and Lars to challenge and got to go up to Pro 9 as well.
Probably won't be able to do that time again because the wheel is going back to its owner on Friday but I reckon it gave me at least 2 minnutes over the 51 km.
At least I know what I want for Christmas now, a back wheel or a new Engine for my car!

It seems churlish to take a 1 second win from a man who has had his bike taken:sad: I suspect your heart wasn't really in the race tonight Bill.

My vespa was nicked a few years ago. Cops didn't give 2 hoots about it. Found it 2 weeks later about a mile away stripped down. Engine and parts were probably on Gumtree before I even found it. Really gut-wrenching so feel for you Bill

Thanks Whorty and everyone else. It's the second time its been nicked in the past 6 months so it must be a bit of a target. First time from outside home and now from outside work. I had gone over the top in security with motion alarms and ground anchor at home but couldn't do the same at work. funny thing is my works cctv has the whole thing recorded but unfortunately no reg number of the bike the two thieves turned up on. Don't expect to see it again but tbh I'm not too bothered. It was a great bike, a Beverly 350 scooter but there are so many worse things that could happen. I must admit it cost me more than my best bicycle so I think its just karma for breaking the rules ;) (a variation on rule #25 I think) .In future the bicycle comes first and I'll get an old scrapper motorbike that no one would want to steal. Hopefully the insurance will pay up.

Sorry to hear that Bill. :cursing: Too many lowlife's around these days who don't care about anyone but themselves. Guessing the police don't fancy their chances of finding it?

Indeed. They said to have got it back last time was a real fluke. I have already emotionally detached myself from it and it'll be the car to work tomorrow but the traffic nightmare getting home again.

Anyway, I really want to talk about tonight's race.:hyper:

LB, did you go easy on me? I thought perhaps you did because you felt sorry for me ;)

And Stuart and JLaw !!! I had no idea just how hard it would be to stay with you guys on the downhill, let alone pass you. I could hardly even get into position to draft you. Stuart, after you passed me a couple of times and shot into the distance I was really thinking I'd struggle to stay with you.

Frigging hell! 8 and a half minutes and after you left Bridgy you weren't even drafting? Respect:notworthy:

Not at all Bob. I think I was trying just as hard as usual, and I was hoping that everyone else would too. The only thing wrong was your handicap which I though was kind of odd when I saw it the other day. You really needed to be starting with me and Lars.

:stop: Ok that's enough about tonight . I'm now planning my assault on thursdays session. I know I can't maintain the power needed for 25 or 23 mph, even with drafting. But 20-21 mph is, I think, doable .

That should be good for about a 1h30m session. Who amongst my fellow gangers will join me at that speed for some drafting?. I know I may be able to push a little more latter in the course if a slow set draft can be built .

I was surprised by the handicap Bill. I would have preferred to start with you guys because I am forced to ride harder to stay with you all. If we could have drafted then even better.

Well you'll be pleased to hear I was the fastest in the pool this evening. I had a great race with the guy who was previously the clubs fastest swimmer, and beat him....just.

It is only fair to admit at this point that this guy has lost the use of both his legs as a result of a very bad motorbike accident. The only reason I could just beat him, was because I was able to push off at the start of each new length.

The guy swims like a flippin' dolphin, and uses just his arms.

RESPECT!

I was alternately resting, then spinning up hard in an effort to make you earn it. Similarly for LB, who I think went easy on me for the last couple miles. No way I can actually stay with him.
