Just realised I have eldest son's last football match of the league season Tuesday night - but it kicks off at 6.30pm so hopefully should all be over by 7.30ish, and if the race starts at 8pm, with our handicap time added I should just about be OK. I'll cycle there so my cycle back can be my warmup!

Team White @Gaileb , @kapelmuur , @Whorty, ably assisted by @bazzer99, @Rob, @jamie, @Ramirez and/or @camlo, if you choose to join our ragtag band

Sorry all I can not do the live run Tues :cursing:. I've just had it confirmed I am working :banghead:. I am, also, not sure if I can do any night this week either . Work getting in the way of bkool :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

If one of you can pick up the organising of the Tuesday run or make arrangements for an alternate day please go ahead :okay:.

OK, how do we go about sorting out the teams?
Blue Team - Bill, Bob, Lars and Bridgy, are you all in?
If AAAC and/or Guy wish to take part they would also be in Blue team.

Red Team - Adski, Tommy, CXRAndy, Kipster?
If RickB, Runar and/or Roleur wish to take part they could also be in Red Team.

Green Team - Monte, John18, Stuart, Soarerv8, Insomnia?
If Berty, Alfie and/or BenH wish to take part they could also be in Green Team.

Magenta Team - Bert1971, Ste Corny, JLaw, GoldWolfie?
White Team - TheBoxers, GailB, Kapelmuur, Whorty?
If Bazzer99, Rob, Jamie, Ramirez and/or Camlo wish to take part they could also be in Magenta or White team, depending on numbers and Handicaps.
These last two teams are a bit fluid, as it is hard to get four or five riders with close enough Handicaps that could make the Tuesday 8pm slot.
nce we know better who can probably make it we may have to make some adjustments.

Geoff

Thanks Geoff. Looks like we're almost all organised.

Ok Blue team. Who's available Tuesday at 8pm?:hugs:

Bob, Lars, Bridgy ? AAAC, Guy?

I've got my man all kitted in blue already :okay:

I'm still not a 100% sure about the Bkool drafting though. We do seem to go faster when in a group, but it seems just as tough being the last man as the first man. Do you experience the same thing, or is it just me?

When I'm in the Velodrome it clearly becomes much easier when I get right behind a bot, and I can see and feel the watts drop. Strangely, this effect continues after I passed the bot...for about a 100 meters.

@LBHIFI effort is reduced, noticeable by up 70-80 watts drop, speed increases. I don't know if the software gives further benefits for 2nd/3rd drafting riders. It does work!

@LBHIFI it does work for me too, although sessions like that one you, Bill and I were doing on Saturday do seem much harder and the benefits less noticeable I agree. I put this down to the fact that the constant slight changes in gradient make staying settled in behind someone MUCH harder than on the velodrome. We were constantly changing positions between the three of us, and although I'm sure we were benefiting it was much more disjointed and also included the occasional need to give an extra dig to prevent getting dropped on an incline or something (for me anyway!). I think it works best/is most noticeable at a constant steady speed on the flat.

Additional thought on this - I guess how "easy" it feels also depends on whether you're using the drafting to save energy whilst maintaining the same kind of speed (probably the case when drafting a bot on the velodrome) or using it to go faster. The latter won't necessarily feel easier, but you'll be going faster for longer than you otherwise would
