I'm still not a 100% sure about the Bkool drafting though. We do seem to go faster when in a group, but it seems just as tough being the last man as the first man. Do you experience the same thing, or is it just me?

I have been a drafting sceptic in the past but agree with the others that the benefit is there. But i find it blooming hard to stay tucked in behind another rider for the benefit and would agree that the physical effort doesn't seem that different whether at front or back but that bkool records a greater benefit. Does that make sense? It seems almost as hard but bkool says the effort/watts output is less.

I thought that may be the case with the last two teams. Problem is the Handicap's need to be close enough to make drafting a realistic prospect.

Can we confirm who is "in" and "out" at this stage for all the teams?

Please can the team leaders let me know who is confirmed for their teams.

Additional thought on this - I guess how "easy" it feels also depends on whether you're using the drafting to save energy whilst maintaining the same kind of speed (probably the case when drafting a bot on the velodrome) or using it to go faster. The latter won't necessarily feel easier, but you'll be going faster for longer than you otherwise would

This is my experience. I am able to go faster for the same power output or longer at the same speed I can maintain on my own. If that makes sense.

If you look at the sessions I did on the flat course, I could do 20-22mph in the draft @ about 200 watts. As soon as the draft was lost the watts went up about 40 and the HR did the same about 20bpm to maintain that 20-22mph. At the end I was fubar'd.

It is easier in the draft, for the rate the train is going at, compared to an individual. However it is usually not easy because you get sucked along at a rate just above what you are comfortable with

Tuesday sessions are normally 8pm, to give an alternative to the Thursday sessions for those who struggle with work, clubs, kids bath times, etc.

The problem with trying to change the time is that for everyone who prefers 7pm, I expect someone else will be unable to manage it.

Although it makes no difference to me (no life, you see), it is so difficult to work out what is the best time to suit the maximum number of riders, it's probably best to leave it at 8pm.

That's great Berty, can we wait and see who is confirmed for Team Green before we finalise things.

My thought is to back fill each team from the lowest Hanidcap first (Bill), to try and get at least 4 members in each team, but we need to keep each team close enough in Handicap to each other that drafting is feasible, without some poor sole sitting on the front the entire way!

Team Blue are all within about 3-4 minutes.
Team Mauve are all within 2-3 minutes
Team Green should be within 1-2 minutes

Looks like we will probably have to merge Team Magenta and Team White to get at least 4 riders.

I'm in. How do I go about changing the kit colour by the way?

Its not as easy as it should be. Select "gear" in Bsim then try to get the outfit to look blue by clicking on a whole lot of stuff. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I'm really not sure how to explain it as it's always seemed very hit or miss for me. Just make sure that the figure of you standing in the outfit has the new colour, and the box on the left showing the new outfit is the one selected when you press the "back" button that takes you out of the gear selection menu. There should at least be a "save" button but there isn't.

are you aware of the pink team colours we have been issued!

Pink and black hoops as per your avatar could look quite smart - but then Gold and Black as per mine would look even better.

However we need to get a team together first - let's hope we get another 'sucker' to join the tail enders effort for tomorrow night.
