Team White were drafting really well, until the climbs broke them up, and Team Green just lost too many people.
I had mechanical problems with about 10k to go .... couldn't get the bike into the top 2 gears so on the flats and downs I was having to pedal like I'd stole the bike to keep up with the guys. Then the whole unit started squeeking and shaking, so I just rolled in. Spotted the problem when I finished - I'd been trying to adjust the lining up of the back wheel in the Bkool and hadn't tightened everything up properly :banghead: I was a few more revolutions from falling off the bike :B) And the misaligned wheel was stopping the gears from changing - that will teach me to mess with the bike before a ride  Well done Team White ... you did us proud :okay::laugh:

Sorry boxers, I was going to see if I could tow you up, but I was afraid the rest of the team would ultimately be out of reach... In retrospect I could have waited a bit longer to see if you could jump in the slipstream as I was able to catch up without too much trouble.

Just couldn't ever get into a good position with the rest of the team though -- we just kept bouncing back and forth out of the draft. I was feeling strong through the middle of the ride, but the tank ran empty over the last half mile or so and everyone zipped by.

I wonder if we'd do better drafting in zwift where the slope changes are more subtle.
Thanks for the attempt but anything above 4% and over 1/2 mile long and I go backwards :cursing:. I need to lose alot of weight to get anywhere near most on here without gaming the system :mrpig:.

@JLaw and @Soarerv8 Thanks for the tow , didn't quite beat 50 minutes. However you gave me help in taking about 3 minutes off my best xx(.

Now rest and recovery .

@Add what happened, did you drop out and then rejoin at the back?
I had flipping 'SOLO' ticked, so it was just me. So I quit, restarted from last rider position, but was still a minute behind. Had to go like the clappers to catch up.....it hurt.

How does it keep coming back on? I only remember clearing it once, then it remembers the setting.

You did really well to catch up again, and still had energy to work with your team. You, Andy and Tommy won the prize for formation riding, it was like watching a pro team!

Agreed - this is so much fun. Real teamwork. Everyone works harder than I bet they would if racing for themselves as they feel responsible for the rest of the team.
If it wasn't for the team i don't think i would have finished it as ive been off the bike for 5 weeks
Still kept getting dropped on the climbs
Very enjoyable riding with the team well done white team

Adam put in a monster effort to come back. Insisting we didn't slow up too much. It really was a captains performance!

teamspeak was really cool too. Once you get over the fact 3 middle aged man are breathing heavily in your ear it's a really good laugh.

I know I say this a lot, but this is getting better and better!

Team not red all the way baby!!! :highfive:

Don't know. If I need to redo the course and beat my two team mates to get a team time, I'll do that. Technically I did the whole course because I started and then rejoined pretty much from where I left off.
The headsets worked amazingly well. If we hadn't of had them, my catastrophic start would have sunk us. I just told them to keep going and I'd give my all to catch up.
I did however, seriously underestimate their ability and generously inflated my own when I made that statement. Nearly died trying to catch them, but then thanks to radio comms, asked them to tow me till I recovered, which they did, Thankyou guys.
The heavy breathing wasn't really an issue at all, and as Kipster said, Andy's British Aerospace wind tunnel set up was the noisiest thing.
THOROUGHLY enjoyed that. Kipster was even feeding us information on the Blue team, as they weren't on our rankings after we passed Soarer.
I did ask him to crash in front of Bill, but he sportingly refused.

I think we had some good spells drafting when it was reasonably flat, but couldn't quite get it together on up and down slopes.

Still the extra concentration required took some of the pain away. Perhaps Kipster voice network would help keeps us together better.

Well done to all in team White
