I'd recommend the assoss version. It's around £10 a tub I think. I was recommended this brand and haven't had to try another.

@theboxers. If your sit bone is becoming sore you may also want to consider a new saddle bud. As Adam alluded to I sold him a saddle that was too narrow for me and causing me discomfort. I bought the the next size up and it's a lot better.

Don't use Vaseline, worthless or Sudacrem which is barrier cream not a lubrication.

Use Chamois cream which is both a lubricant and has anti bacteria properties. There is a warming sensation for 10mins but then it's lovely. As Tommy has mentioned washes out with no damage to shorts.

Pretty damned impressive though doing that on the turbo I haven't got the mental staying power let alone the physical bit.

I have heard of riders doing 100 milers on bkool, not seen the actual rides?

60miles is my maximum on bkool, you do need to sustenance for these multi hour sessions.

Tried one of these seats, bought it at a show, but couldn't get on with it at all, found it incredibly uncomfortable. But quite a few of the top riders are using them now. Different bums different seats I guess. My scrawny pigeon like pelvis sits atop my saddle much better than Tommy12Tots child bearing rear end did. I had to try a few before I settled on a comfy one.
We have a tub of Bum Butter in the cupboard, that no one has ever used, yet has been mysteriously opened. I can only assume that either my youngest, when his reading skills were still developing, thought he'd try it on toast, or our eldest, in his twenties, lazily read no further than the title, and we've probably washed it out of his bed linen.

Too true, a measly bowl of porridge, half of which was nabbed by one of my kids, did not suffice. You also need to fully charge your Bluetooth headphones, because the only company I had for the last 10 miles was pain and suffering.
The ride I did only had the map view too, which is pretty mind numbing. was going to put Tour de Yorkshire on the TV, but glad I didn't, that would have been pretty demoralising too.

I move the 'merlin' fan to the other side of the room when doing long tempo rides so I can hear the radio, this help me stave of boredom, that and staring out of the conservatory at the garden. Just off to Rutland Water now for a ride and a reconnaissance for the wife. She has spotted a house she wants

I have never felt the need for chamois cream or similar even on 100m rides. An Arione saddle seems to suit my sit bones pretty well. Thinking back I used to get the old numb nuts on long rides pre bike fit but shifting the saddle a bit sorted that. Sometimes when bkooling and in the drops or stretched out time trial style I am aware the saddle could be shorter or simply tipped down a bit. But then my bike sits higher at the front because of my wheel support. And indont want to mess about with the saddle angle or height.
Adds, I am amazed you rode that far with just the map. Old school turboing:okay:

the boxers, that's good advice. Specialised stores and lots of other bike shops do saddle fit now. I think you sit on a base that then reveals the width of your sit ones and ,err, any irregularities and that guides width and length of saddle. Then you get to take away and try and change if necessary.

Yep! Go to any LBS that sells Specialised and they will have a sit bones gauge, basically a bit of memory foam and a ruller. That will help you choose the right width and then all you need to do is find the right shape. Larger shops will have tester saddles you can often try in the shop. I have a draw full of saddles because I tried to guess but ended up with wide(ish) Specialized Romin which has a long central relief slot (which I really need) and a reasonably wide nose. It's also slightly dished which suits me as well. I had an Adomo Prologue which was almost there but the rear sit area was too flat and still caused pressure on my prostrate which what can kill me after 30 mins of sat on a Turbo.

Listen you cheeky sod! Just coz I don't have the hips of an 8 year old chimney sweep like you do, I'm not the bloke of the money supermarket advert!!

With regards choosing saddles I'd go to Evans. They don't rate high in lots of areas for me but they have a 30 day returns policy which means you can try lots of shapes and sizes without breaking the bank.

+1 for assos cream, with the assos bibs seven hours in the saddle hasn't caused any discomfort. I tend to use sudocrem on the turbo with cheap bibs. The right saddle is also essential, I keep meaning to try a specialized one, but haven't had any issues with my cheapy saddle.

Right. I'm off Bkool now for 2 weeks. Can I make a formal request that no one gets any fitter whilst I'm away? ^_^ If my fellow autobus colleagues could have a few extra pies and pasties, that would be most kind :hugs:
