Get yourselves some chamois cream guys.
It's 10 X better than Vaseline. It's works as a barrier and prevents the friction which causes chafing. It's like the nappy rash cream sudocrem, in consistency and effect, but it also comes out in the wash. It feels very odd the first time you apply it but you forget about it when you're riding. I'd recommend the assoss version. It's around £10 a tub I think. I was recommended this brand and haven't had to try another.
@theboxers. If your sit bone is becoming sore you may also want to consider a new saddle bud. As Adam alluded to I sold him a saddle that was too narrow for me and causing me discomfort. I bought the the next size up and it's a lot better.
