Got power figures for most of the regulars now, thanks.

Obvious missing contenders at the moment are @Gaileb, @bert1971, @Randyberlin, @Add, @RickB and @LBHIFI

I do have some power figures for some from Bonus Stage 2 and Stage 5, but it would be good to get your FTP power values, if you think you'd like a go at the Handicap.

Or anyone else who fancies joining in...

Since everyone will be lighter, and some considerably so, resistance should be reduced and the sessions are deliberately designed to be short, so as not to go over 30 minutes. They can be done at any time during the week, if you can't make the Tuesday 8pm club run! :highfive:

Well done @AAAC 76C on winning the Spring Sessions League - this looks like the final results, although looks like stage 6 is still open for the time being if anyone (@LBHIFI ?) wants to have a last minute shot at setting a time if they missed it before! :bravo:

Hang on a minute, there is a chance I could pip A3C to the post when I have a go later today!

Mr Andy, your drugs for delusions of grandeur are ready from the doctor

Sorry about that, Paul . I was able to do a perfect race, conserving energy thanks to the ghosts of you, Bill and AAAC. I knew I didn't have to follow your mind blowing pace at the start, because you would eventually be caught by Bill & AAAC. So just stayed with them for a good deal of the race. Is was able to preserve enough energy to make a break for it, using the little bump about 6K from finish and managed to get a good head start on the foot of the climb. Not enough to hold AAAC behind me though.

So sorry Andy!

Far be it for me to want to burst your bubble in any way, but if my quick, rough calculations are correct, I think you may actually be a couple of minutes over AAAC's total time even before your attempt at Stage 6, but don't let me stop you trying!

No worries - I'm sure a very similar result would have happened if you'd been there in the live race!

Shame you ran out of time to do stage 5 - was looking really close between you and Bill in particular I think?

(P.S Why on earth does it take Bkool SO LONG to update the overall league results after the stage results are up? Surely it should just happen simultaneously??)

Random question.

Ally or brass spoke nipples. I had 2 go on me in a week so need to replace the lot. Previously had ally ones which have corroded. Is weight the only disadvantage of brass ones?

Thanks everyone for the power figures, nearly there now.

In almost all cases the FTP power value is close to the power figures for the previous run at the Merry Harriers Sprint Stage 2 and/or Stage 5 from this months Spring Sessions.

However, in a couple of cases the FTP value is 15% lower and in one case 20% lower.

Any idea why this should be?

Lard 131kg
Previous FTP was 199 watts
Highest power has been on the flat @230 watts/20 minutes
Uphill was stage 5 @190 watts but I'm having issues with high gradient climbs, resistance levels and blue numbers.

Rather than 230 Watts (or 199 Watts), how about we go with your 215.42 Watts from this month's Merry Harriers? Since your weight will be much lower, the gradient is effectively much reduced, so hopefully you should be able to get close to that figure. Then if need be, we can adjust for next week.

@gbrown I was amateur 6 before it gave me this totally fictitious Active rating that I don't deserve, seem to be able to manage about 230 watts for half an hour and am 93kg

Do you think the big disparity between your 230 Watts and the 287.67 Watts on Stage 5 was due to the super high gradients? With your weight reduced the gradient on the Handicap climbs will be effectively that bit lower. Shame you didn't try Bonus Sprint 2, have you done the Merry Harriers at all, or anything similar?

    • Your last FTP value update was on 12/05/2016 17:17. You developed an average power of 260.60 W

@Northern Tortoise Stuart, your average power on the Bonus Sprint 2 (Merry Harriers) was much higher (302.9 W), do you think this was because the session was short? This week's Handicap is three times the Merry Harriers, so keeping up that kind of power will be harder, also the effective gradient will be lower as your weight will be lower.

I guess most people who did stage 5 would have had an updated FTP value as a result of it as it was over 30 mins and bloomin steep, which = high average power. Merry Harries was similarly steep so would have got similar power figures but was only a few minutes so wouldn't affect FTP. Did the people with lower FTP skip stage 5?

Unfortunately the effect of that really steep stage 5 on many peoples FTP value has made setting your handicaps a bit more complicated I think Geoff?! Particularly as not everyone's done that stage so had their FTP updated by it

I guess this first stage is very much an experiment, but it should give us some more accurate power figures for later runs. It will be very interesting to see how the simulator responds to the wide variation in weights and weight changes.

Yeah, if adding a few kilos doesn't change things too much I'm ditching the salads and hitting the donuts.....

Paul, I'm thinking that was strategic by Lars to miss out stage 5 because then his FTP would be way up like ours. I think Geoff might see through it though and give him a handicap weight somewhere above mine but lower than yours.
